USA: American Song Contest 1st qualifying round contestants announced

  • The competing acts in the first qualifying round of the American Song Contest, set to take place on March 21 have been announced. 

    With the inaugural edition of the American Song Contest just around the corner, the 11 contestants of the first qualifying round that will take place on March 21, 2022 have gone public. 

    The American Song Contest which is brought to the audience by Propagate in association with Universal Television Alternative Studio, a division of Universal Studio Group is set to kick off on March 21, whilst the grand final will take place on May 9. All show will be aired live on NBC. 

    Over three qualifying heats, semifinals and a Grand final show we will see competing acts competing and representing all 50 states, five U.S. territories and the nation’s capital Washington DC.

    The organisers of the competition are progressively releasing all the details around the upcoming contest. After revealing the hosts of the show , the voting format  and the overall  competing acts, the 11 acts to compete in the first qualifying round have been announced with the acts representing 11 States and Territories. 

    The 11 contestants will battle for four spots that lead to the semifinals stage. Namely the acts to take part in the first heat of the competition are: 

    1. Arkansas: Kelsey Lamb“Never Like This”
    2. Connecticut: Michael Bolton
    3. Illinois : Justin Jesso
    4. Indiana : UG skywalkin “Love For My City”
    5. Iowa : Alisabeth Von Presley
    6. Minnesota: Yam Haus
    7. Mississippi: Keyone Starr
    8. Oklahoma: AleXa“Wonderland”
    9. Puerto Rico: Christian Pagán“LOKO”
    10. Rhode Island: Hueston“Held On Too Long”
    11. Wisconsin: Jake’O

     

    The original songs of the American Song Contest series will be released under the label of Atlantic Records, with the first set of song to go public on Monday March 21, 2022 at 00:00 (midnight) ET / 21:00 PT, which will be repeated every week up to the Grand final show. 

    The shows are set to hit the screen live from 20:00 – 22:00 ET/PT from the Universal Lot and will unfold over 8 weeks until the Grand Final show on Monday 9 May, just one day before the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 first semi-final takes place in Turin. The show will be hosted by Kelly Clarkson and Snoop Dogg.
