  • The Australian Eurovision 2021 hopeful, Montaigne, has dropped her new single "Now (In Space)" from her upcoming third album.

Following her Eurovision participation and her follow up single  “My Life is Better With You” which was fully released in August after being the theme song for The McElroy Family’s hit podcast My Brother, My Brother and Me, Montaigne is back with her brand new piece of work that takes us in a space journey.

After describing abusive behaviors in a relastionship in 'Don't Break Me' and following 'Technicolour's ' metaphoric features for strength and diversity, Montaigne in her new single 'Now (In Space)' bring back the love feeling enough to shoot one across the space.

In the song's lyrics spacy metaphors co-exist with the reference to a big love, while the accompanying video features a futuristic dynamic Montaigne who flies through the galaxy, lands on asteroids and dances with aliens.

Explaining the meaning behind the song and video she says:

“The album was going to be this concept album – which I won’t go into – but this song specifically was going to be about this person who works in space, doing surveying, scouting land and resources for a space mining company.

"They do stopovers on Earth between jobs and they’ve met someone who they’ve fallen in love with, but they have to go back out on this job, and they’re missing that person – the romantic attachment.”

“It’s a song about longing and having so many feelings that you can barely stand it. The real life interpretation of that is me with my partner, being completely obsessed and having somewhat of an attachment issue where’ I’m very clingy,”

Montainge's new work come as result of her collaboration with her ESC 2021 entry producer, with songwriter-producer Dave Hammer.

    Montaigne in Eurovision

Montaigne had won the country’s 2nd national final in history. Eurovision: Australia Decides 2020, held in Gold Coast , Queensland last February. Her entry “Don’t Break Me” achieved to top the jury voting and came second in the public vote. After the contest's cancellation she was invited back to represent the country in this year's competition in Rotterdam.

In This year's competition she was set to compete with the song 'Technicolour' the Live On Tape performance of which we  saw in the first semi final on May 18, 2021 as the 5th competing entry, as the covid-19 travel restrictions for a second year in a row didn't allow her to attend live the event.

Sadly the song didn't make it to the Grand final marking Australia's first time since they debuted in the contest that they didn't qualify to the Grand final.
