  • Gaia Gambuzza representing Malta at Junior Eurovision 2022 has released the music video of her entry for Yerevan, "Diamonds in the skies"

    Malta's national broadcaster, PBS, has published the official music video of the song 'Diamonds in the skies' that their Junior Eurovision 2022 hopeful, Gaia Gambuzza,  will be singing in Yerevan, Armenia on December 11. The song has been written by leading local singer-songwriter Matthew James Borg.

    Gaia secured her spot in the 20th Junior Eurovision class after winning a month ago the Maltese national final of Matla Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022 ( MJESC 2022) performing the song 'Diamonds in the skies'.  Follwing her selection the official music of her song has been released. 

    The music video of 'Diamonds in the skies' has been directed by Gordon Bonello. The music video is set in the world of science fiction. During it, Gaia communicates through mysterious technology in a surreal environment. The video is crafted in an 80s style. Four dancers and three actors take part in Gaia.

     

    A few words for Gaia

    Gaia Gambuzza is 13 years old and besides singing she loves playing the piano and musical theater. She has already a wide experience of big stages. Precisely, she took part in the Sanremo Junior Festival earlier this year while she had advanced to the finals of IBand 2021.

     

    Malta in Junior Eurovision 

    Malta is one of the most succeful nations in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, having won already twice: in 2013  with Gaia Cauchi and her entry The Start” , and in 2015 with Destiny Chukunyere singing “Not My Soul,”. The nation debuted in the competition at the first contest back in 2003, and has only missed two editions, in 2011 and 2012. Since then apart from the two victories it has accomplished six times to finish in the top 10 spots on the scorebaoard. 

    In JESC 2019 Eliana Gomez Blanco represented Malta in  Gliwice- Silesia  with “We Are More”, and came 19th with a totlal of 29 points. In 2020 the national final winner, Chanel Monseigneur , flew the flag in Warsaw with her song "Chasing Sunsets" which finished 8th with a total of 100 points.

    Last year, Ike & Kaya won the national final and defended the Maltese colors in Paris singing 'My Home' which finished 12th in the final with 97 points.
