Cyprus: Andrew Lambrou signs contract with Panik Records

The Cypriot Eurovision 2023 hopeful, Andrew Lambrou, has officially signed in with Panik Records' team as his Eurovision journey is underway.
Andrew Lambrou has been selected to represent Cyprus at Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool next May and has been over the past weeks on European soil recording his song in Stockholm and with the members of his production team been unveiled.
One of his latest stops was Athens, Greece where he had the chance to go over in Panik Records' headquarters and seal his contract with the record label. In the presence of the company's CEO Giorgos Arsenakos the two sides signed the contract that bring Andrew in Panik Records' team. Notably, Panik Records has been collaborating with the Cypriot national broadcaster, CyBC, since 2020 in order to ease the mediterranean island's participation in the contest.
Just a couple of days before CyBC confrimed that Jimmy Jansson and Thomas Stengaard are part of the production team. The two of them are familiar to the Eurovision audience as they have been behind the entries of several past participations.
Jimmy Jansson is a singer and songwriter who has penned songs that have competed in Melodifestivalen, EMA, DMGP, Beovizija, Melodi Grand Prix and Benidorm Fest. In 2020 his song “Yes” won the Danish national final for Eurovision 2020, which sadly was cancelled due to the pandemic. Thomas Stengaard was one of the writers of Emelie De Forest's winning song of Eurovision 2013 “Only Teardrops” . He has also been in the production teams of the Eurovision songs “El Diablo” (Cyprus 2021), “You Let Me Walk Alone” (Germany 2018) and “Adrenalina” (San Marino 2021).
A few words for Andrew Lambrou
Sydney-based musician Andrew Lambrou with a Greek - Cypriot famlily backgroud. Songwriter and singer, the musician has spent the last few years with his head down, building an audience and a skillset in songwriting and performing through work he's teased over the last few years.
He has been singing since the age of 5 where he discovered his love for music at AMS music school where he learnt to play the piano. His music is pop with dark elements to it, although dark sounding, most of his songs have a very uplifting positive message. He's influenced by so many different styles, and has always had a huge passion for movie music which is where the dark element comes from.
At the age of 17 he took part in the X-factor Australia show in 2015 reaching the top-20 acts of the competition. After year's of covers and music making, earlier in the year he reached the point where it all came together; the musician signed to City Pop Records - joining Mia Rodriguez and Mason Watts - to launch his debut single Throne into the world.
He is no stranger to the Eurovision audience as earlier this year he took part in the Australian national final 'Eurovision 2022: Australia Decides' with the song 'Electrify' which finished 7th in the overall score. Currently the talented act has reached 680,000 followers on Tik Tok and over 480,000 followers on Instagram.

Cyprus in Eurovision
Cyprus debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981 with the group Island, achieving an honorable 6th placing in Dublin. Aphrodite’s island has been represented by some of the biggest names in the Greek and Cypriot music industry: Anna Vissi (1982), Michalis Hatzigiannis (1998), Evridiki (1992,1994,2007), Ivi Adamou (2012), Despina Olympiou (2013), etc.
The country achieved its best Eurovision result this year when it placed 2nd with Eleni Foureira’s Fuego. The Greek famous star was selected internally to fly the Cypriot flag at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon. Eleni’s explosive performanc on the Altice Arena stage blew away Europe which boosted the country to its highest position ever in the competiton.
In 2020, CyBC internally selected Sandro Nicolas to fly the flag in Rotterdam with his entry Running, written by Alfie Arcuri, Sebastian Rickards, Octavian Rasinariu and Sandro himself while the productionwas work of Teo DK. However Sandro never had the chance to perform in Rotterdamam as the contest was cancelled due to the covid-19 pandemic. In 2021, Elena Tsagrinou was internally selected to fly the flag in Rotterdam with her song "El Diablo" which competed in the first semi final and after qualifying to the Grand final finished 16th with a total of 94 points.
Earlier this year Andromache represented the country with her song 'Ela' in Turin competing in the second semi-final where she finished 12th with 63 points ( 9th in thr televoting last in the jury voting) and didn't reach the Grand final.
