  • Andrew Lambrou will be flying the flag for Cyprus at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool, UK next year.

We have our second Eurovision 2023 act determined as Cyprus, after Israel, is the second country to reveal their Eurovision hopeful for Liverpool. Andrew Lambrou has been internally selected to defend the Cypriot colors in Eurovision 2023.

The Cypriot national broadcaster, CyBC, through an announcement on their social media account confirmed Andrew Lambrou as the next representative of the mediterranean state-island in the Eurovision Song Contest. His name was rumored over the last months as he fitted the profile CyBC was in search of: a young talented act of Cypriot origin.

The offical announcent by the broadcaster reads as following:

A few words for Andrew Lambrou

Sydney-based musician Andrew Lambrou with a Greek - Cypriot famlily backgroud. Songwriter and singer,  the musician has spent the last few years with his head down, building an audience and a skillset in songwriting and performing through work he's teased over the last few years.

He has been singing since the age of 5 where he discovered his love for music at AMS music school where he learnt to play the piano. His  music is pop with dark elements to it, although dark sounding, most of his songs have a very uplifting positive message. He's influenced by so many different styles, and has always had a huge passion for movie music which is where the dark element comes  from.

At the age of 17 he took part in the X-factor Australia show in 2015 reaching the top-20 acts of the competition.

After year's of covers and music making, earlier in the year he reached the point where it all came together; the musician signed to City Pop Records - joining Mia Rodriguez and Mason Watts - to launch his debut single Throne into the world.

He is no stranger to the Eurovision audience as earlier this year he took part in the Australian national final 'Eurovision 2022: Australia Decides' with the song 'Electrify' which finished 7th in the overall score.

More details on the entry Andrew will be performing in Liverpool will come to light in due course.
