Poland: Rafał Brzozowski to Eurovision 2021 with the song "The Ride"

The Polish broadcaster, TVP, has internally selected Rafał Brzozowski to represent the nation at Eurovision 2021 with his song "The Ride".
After month of silence regarding their ESC 2021 participation, TVP, has uveiled the Polish Eurovision 2021 hopeful. Rafał Brzozowski will defend the Polish colors in Rotterdam singing "The Ride". This automatically means that last year's act Alicja Szemplińska has not been given the return ticket.
Rafał stated on his Instagram: “Finally, I can officially share this unique news with you! Yes, my song was selected for the Eurovision Song Contest. The adventure begins! Hold on for the ride of your life… Keep your fingers crossed!”
Rafal is one more acts that is riding the 80's wave and presents us a synth-pop song with 80's vibes.“The Ride” has been written by the Swedish songwriters: Joakim Övrenius, Thomas Karlsson, Clara Rubensson and Johan Mauritzson.
Along with the song was released the music video in which the Polish act is dressed in black with dark sunglasses joined by a group of dancers while neon lights feature the background scenery.
A few words for Rafał Brzozowski
Fafal was born on June 8, 1981 in Warsaw and grew up in Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki . He has two younger brothers, Paweł and 17 years younger Adam . At the age of 10, he started learning to play the piano and guitar.
He began his musical career in 2002 with the participation in the television program Chance for Success , in which he won a distinction. Previously, he performed with Marcin Kiljan in the K.Martin band . In 2003 he became a member of the reactivated band Emigranci. He was also a member of the Mono group.
In autumn 2011, he took part in The Voice of Poland . He was in the group of Andrzej Piaseczny , he was eliminated just before the final . In the same year, he released two singles: "Nie mam nic” and "Na dobre masz zawsze mnie” which was used as the musical theme of the Na dobre i na bad series.
In 2012, he released the single "Tak Blisko" which was the leading track of his debut album Tak Blisko. On September 30, 2014, he released his second studio album entitled “Mój czas” (My time)
In 2017, with the song "Sky Over Europe", the took part in the Polish national selection for the 62nd Eurovision Song Contest, in which he finished in second place behind Kasia Moś.
In 2020, with the song "Gentleman", he qualified for the "Premier" concert at the 57th KFPP in Opole whilst he was one of the hosts of Junior Eurovision 2020.
Poland in Eurovision
Poland debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 with Edyta Gorniak‘s To nie ja, achieving the best result for the country uo to date. The country which has participated 21 times in the contest and counts mixed results . It has managed a top 10 placing only three times. Due to poor results and financial issues and was absent from the competition for three consecutive years until their return in 2014.
In 2018 Gromee feat Lukas Meijer represented the countey with their song Light me up but unfortunately were left out of the grand final. In 2019 Tulia with “Fire of Love (Pali się)“ represented the country but failed to reach the grand final as they finished 11th in the first semi final .
Last year Alicja Szemplińska was set to represent the nation in Rotterdam with her song Empires, following her win in the national final “Szansa na sukces 2020″ . However the contest was cancelled due to the covid-19 outbreak and Alicja never had the chance to perform her entry on Rotterdam Ahoy's stage.
