Russia: Little big’s Eurovision 2020 entry “Uno” the most watched video on the ESC official YouTube channel

  • Little Big, Russia's ESC 2020 representatives are unstoppable as their  Eurovision entry, 'Uno' tops the list of the most watched videos on the official Eurovision YouTube Channel with  more than 134 million views.

    Nobody can say that we didn't see this coming! Back in May Little Big's ESC 2020 entry, 'Uno',  passed 100 million views on the official Eurovision Youtube channel in just two months, letting Netta with her ESC 2018 winning entry, "Toy" feel their breath. 

     

     

     

    Now the Russian band's song has reached over 134 million views surpassing Netta and becoming the list's new leader of the most watched videos on the official Youtube channel.  

    A few words about Little Big

    Little Big is a Russian rave band founded in 2013 in St. Petersburg. The set includes Ilya Ilich Prusikin, Sergey Gokk Makarov, Sonya Tayurskaya, and Anton Boo Lissov. The first full-length album, With Russia from Love, was released on 17 March 2014. The group has released three albums and nine singles.

    The band made its debut on 1 April 2013, releasing their first video Every Day I’m Drinking. They made their first public appearance on 2 July 2013 at the club A2, opening for Die Antwoord.They have toured in Europe, Russia, and North America. On 19 December 2015, the band released their second album, Funeral Rave. It was 8th on the Russian iTunes chart for the 52nd week of 2015.

    The team calls itself a satirical art collaboration, which relies on the music, visuals, and the show. Little Big mocks various national stereotypes about Russia. The band has influences by a variety of musicians from Cannibal Corpse, NOFX, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rammstein, and The Prodigy to Mozart and Vivaldi.

    With all the success growing even bigger after the band's internal selection for Eurovision 2020 by Channel 1 Russia (C1R) it is really interesting to see whether the Russian broadcaster will stick with the pop-punk-rave Russian band or turn to a new act for next year's Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam. 

     

    Russia in Eurovision 

    Russia debuted in Eurovision in 1994 and has gone on to be one of the most successful countries in the contest. Since the mid-00s Russia has had a string of strong results including their first and only victory in 2008. Dima Bilan won the contest in Belgrade, Serbia with the song “Believe” taking the contest to Moscow in the following year. In 2015 and 2016, Russia finished in 2nd and 3rd place  in the final represented respectively by Polina Gagarina and Sergey Lazarev

    Julia Samoylova represented Russia in the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest with the song I won’t break. She was also selected to compete in the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest as a representative of Russia with the song A flame is burning, however due to some problems with the Ukrainian authorities, the country decided to withdraw ahead of the competition.

    In 2019  Sergey Lazarev was internally selected to represent Russia in Tel Aviv with his entry "Scream", achieving to finish in the honorable 3rd place in the grand final .
