  • Just a couple of hours before Netta let out the official music video for her recently released song “Cuckoo”, as well as the announcement of her brand new EP, titled 'Goody Bag', which is scheduled to go public on 25 June 2020. 

     Almost a month ago we saw during the special show "Eurovision: Europe Shine a Light" Netta' perform from her bedroom her new single "Cuckoo". The ESC 2018 winner is back with her new stripped-back ballad  and is proving that she will continue to be on the spotlight as an act in the coming years.

    The song has been written by Bert Elliott, Krysta Marie Youngs, and Netta Barzilai herself. Behind the production are  Bert Elliott and JR Rotem. Regarding the music video of the song , it has been directed by Roy Raz with Roman Harten acting as director of photography. Starring alongside with Netta, in the visual, are Litay Marcus, Gigi Komai, Nadav Svirs, Niv Fridman, Pazit Shelf, Yarden Tarkai, Ori Bihonski, Yanai Menin, Darya Frishman, Sergey Shmayevsky, Izhak & Avi Baron, with dancers Londiwe Khoza & Igor Ptashenchuk also featuring the video.

    While the song is something new in style for Netta it showcases her versatility. Th music video however is powerful, and represents her, her image, and what she stands for. The Israeli act talking about it in a press release stated: 

     “Cuckoo is about being stuck, and the chance we all deserve to escape it, to reflect, and to be un-stuck. The music video presents a possible solution – what if we can fix our lives like we can fix a clock? The people in the video are stuck in an actual loop. They can’t stop, doubt or reflect. Time passes, all the clocks keep ticking – and the loop just keeps ongoing. Only when the clocks magically stop – time stands still. In this window of opportunity, the loops stop, and change is suddenly possible. Everyone can reflect on their lives, their love. What will happen if one time they will find the strength to break their habits?”

    Regarding her upcoming EP, Goody Bag  Netta revealed that it will be out on June 25 and it will include all her hits and her recent releases such as “Toy”, “Bassa Sababa” , “Nana Banana”, “Ricki Lake”  and both the studio version and the music box version of “Cuckoo“.

    Netta in Eurovision 

    In 2018 Netta represented Israel at Eurovision 2018 in Lisbon, after winning HaKokhav HaBa, the Israeli national selection show for Eurovision. Netta performed the song "Toy" in Lisbon's Altice Arena and won the Grand final bringing the trophy to Israel after 20 years. 

    Her song became an international success,  reaching the US Billboard Dance and US Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs charts. The music video has reached over 100 million YouTube views, becoming the first to surpass that number on the official Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel.
