Greece: Stefania's new single 'Friday' is now out while her Eurovision 2021 entry has been already written!

  • Stefania, the Eurovision 2020/2021 Greek hopeful has released her new uptempo single titled 'Friday', the second ESC 2020 candidate song for Greece. 

    Following her Eurovision 2020 entry Superg!rl  which counts more than 4,500,000 views on Youtube and 1,500,000 streams on Spotify and would have represented Greece in the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest that was canceled due to the pandemic, the 17 year old talented act released the song 'Friday'. 

    During the days of the covid-19 quarantine, Stefania prepared the brand new dynamic pop, feelgood single with lyrics by John Ballard, music by Dimitris Kontopoulos and production by Arcade. The song was one of the two candidate songs to represent Greece in Rotterdam but eventually 'Superg!rl'  prevailed in ERT's selection committee.

    "Friday" conveys summer vibes while it is certain that it will make us move to its rhythm by making every day… "Friday"! The song has been released under the label of Panik records and is availiable on all streaming platforms.

    Along with the song its official music video has been released. The clip was directed by Pim Verlat and produced by Peter Natrop and Spiros Chalos. ‘Friday”s video clip has been filmed in The Hague, Netherlands

     

     

    Eurovision 2021 entry

    Meanwhile according to local media reports Stefania's new song for Eurovision 2021 has already been written. Stefania will continue her way to Eurovision with Dimitris Kontopoulos who has her new entry ready and waits for the young acts to record it in Athens. According to the same report ERT is expected to unveil the Greek ESC 2021 entry in November.

     

    About Stefania

    Stefania Liberakakis was born 17 December 2002 in Utrecht, also known simply as Stefania, is a Greek–Dutch singer, actress, voice actress and YouTuber.

    Stefania is no stranger to the Eurovision family! In 2016 as member of the group  Kisses she represented The Netherlands in στην Junior Eurovision 2016 performing the song  Kisses and Dancin which came 8th.

    Earlier, in 2013, Liberakakis was a contestant in the third season of The Voice Kids in the Netherlands. She joined Team Borsato after her blind audition, but was eliminated in the battle rounds. She then joined the children’s choir Kinderen voor Kinderen, which she left after two years.

    In 2018, Liberakakis released her first solo single named “Stupid Reasons”. In 2019, she released three more singles: “Wonder”, “I’m Sorry (Whoops!)” and “Turn Around”.  From 2018 onwards, she stars as Fenna in the TV-series Brugklas (English: The First Years) and the movie Brugklas: De tijd van m’n leven. She also starred in other Dutch movies, including De Club van Lelijke Kinderen (as singer) and 100% Coco New York (as Lilly).[

    In June 2019, she performed a cover of the song “Con Calma” (together with Konnie Metaxa and Ilenia Williams) at the MAD Video Music Awards, which was broadcast on Greek television.

     

    Eurovision 2020

    Stefania was internally selected to represent Greece in Eurovision 2020 with her song 'Supergi!rl'. Unfortunately the contest was cancelled due to the covid-19 pandemic depriving the the young talented act from perform in Rotterdam. ERT has revealed that it will be continuing with Stefania in next year's edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, giving to the young talented act the chance to complete her Eurovision journey in Rotterdam.
