Sunday, 17 October 2021

  • The 5th episode of the third season of the rewatch party series #Eurovisionagain, hit the screen last evening with the 2012 edition, the post online voting of which saw Sweden's Loreen triumph with her song 'Euphoria'

The rewatch party series #Eurovisionagain that kept the ESC fans company during last year's hard covid-19 lockdown periods returned last evening for the third season's 2nd episode.

The first to launch such initiative, was a group of fans that uploaded past events, while EBU followed through its official Eurovision Youtube Channel. The idea was implemented as COVID-19 restrictions led to national lockdowns and the eventual cancellation of the Eurovision Song Contest. Once the competing part of the contest is over, the audience has the chance to cast its votes and make up a new result for each edition.

    The  2012 edition

Last evening's #EurovisionAgain re-broadcast the memorable edition of 2012. The contest took place in Crystal Hall in Baku, Azerbaijan  following the country's victory at the 2011 contest with the song "Running Scared" by Ell & Nikki.. Without doubt the 'Land of Fire' offered a spectacular show which has a extensive use of fire effects inspired by that year's pyro themed artwork and slogan. The 57th edition saw a total of 42 competing countries and was organised by EBU and Ictimai TV.

    The online voting results

The online fan voting that took place via the #EurovisionAgain Twitter Account after the rebroadcast declared as winner Ireland's Loreen with the song "Euphoria" while second came Spain with Pastora Soler singing 'Quedate Comingo' ( 8 place up from the actual results in 2012) The most impressive placing though was Cyprus' 3rd place with Ivi Adamou and La La Love which climbed 13 places up from the actual results.

Here is the overall scoreboard after last evening's fan online voting:
