Armenia: ESC 2007 act Hayko Hakobyan passes away aged 48!

  • Hayko Hakobyan who represnted Armenia at Eurovision 2007 has passed away aged 48 !

    Sad news for the Eurovision family as one of its former Eurovision participants, Hayko Hakobyan from Armenia has died at the young age of 48 after contracting Covid-19. 

    Chief of staff of the Yerevan State Medical University Shushan Danielyan confirmed the news to Public Radio of Armenia, which reported that the young artist and honored within Armenia's music scene contracted Covid-19 a couple of weeks before and despite his fight he eventually didn't make it. 

    Hayko has represented Armenia back in 2007 at the Eurovision Song Contest that took place in Helsinki Finland. The artist defended the Armenian coloer competing with the song 'Anytime you need' which received a total of 138 points and was place 8th in the grand final. 

    Besides his Eurovision participation Hayko has been nominated with the award of composer of the year, three times in 2007, 2010 ans 2011 and had served also as one of the coashes in The Voice of Armenia. In addtion he has written music for a number of films including Do Not Be Afraid, The Killed Dove, The Diary of a Cross-Stealer and others.
