Ukraine's Eurovision 2021 representatives , the band Go_A , have released a revamp of their entry for Rotterdam "Shum".
Ukraine is one of the first countries to confirm its participation in Eurovision 2021 with UA: PBC deciding to stick with the national final winners of Vidbir 2020 and continue in Eurovision 2021 with the group Go_A. The song selection, however, was determined through an internal selection with the band submitting three potential entries and a special jury assessing and selecting the entry titled "Shum".
The jury consisted of the following members:
- Jamala: Eurovision 2016 winner
- Evgeny Filaton: Member of the group 'The Maneken'
- Ruslan Kvinta: Music producer
- Yarloslav Lodigin: Member of the UA:PBC board
- Dmitry Khorkin: Μember of the UA:PBC board
The song "Shum" ("Noise") interpreted by the band Go_A is a modern reintepretation of an archaic game with elements of ancient magical rituals. Following the release of its official music video the Ukrainian ESC 2021 hopefuls released a revamp of the song which is the final version of their ESC entry.
Go_A are to compete in the second half of the first semi final on May 18 in Rotterdam.
A few words for Go_A
Go_A is a Ukrainian electro-folk band that consists of Kateryna Pavlenko (vocalist), Taras Shevchenko (multi-instrumentalist), Ihor Didenchuk (sopiklar) and Ivan Hrihoryak (guitar).
The band was formed in 2012 and in December the same year the first song "Koliada" (Коляда) was released. The band's name means "return to the roots" and was made by combining the English word "Go" with the Greek letter "Alpha", which symbolizes the beginning of everything.
The band first gained attention after the release of the single "Vesnianka" (Веснянка), which won the National competition The Best Track in Ukraine 2015. In the fall of 2016, Go_A released their debut album Idy na zvuk (Follow the tune).

Ukraine in Eurovision
Ukraine participated for the first time at the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 when Oleksandr Ponormayov represented the country Hasta la vista. Ukraine has won the Eurovision trophy two times, in 2004 with Ruslana and in 2016 (Jamala). Following both victories the country hosted the contest in 2005 and 2017 respectively. The country has achieved remarkable results as it has reached 9 times the top 10 places in its 15 year ESC history.
In 2018 Ukraine was represented by Vidbir 2018 winner, Melovin with his entry Under the ladder, achieving a 17th place in the Grand Final. In 2019 Ukraine saw a dramatic national selection Vidbir, which saw Maruv winning with her entry Siren Song. After a serial of dramatic developments between the broadcaster and the winner eventually Ukraine withdrew from the Eurovision 2019.
Last year after two semi final rounds and a total of 16 candidates, the Ukrainian national final for Eurovision 2020, Vidbir 2020, crowned winner the group Gо_A and the entry “Solovey” . Unfortunately their Eurovision journey stayed incomplete as the contest was cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.
