The Swiss entry came out of a total of 13 songs which  were prepared within the framework of a song camp with Gjon's Tears adding in his vocals at each track. Then the 13 songs were assessed by a 100 member audience panel and a jury of international experts. The evaluation took place with points awarded and observations on the entries. The 13 songs were refined in accrodance with the feedback, with the Swiss hopeful recording live the performances of the songs. This taped performances were submitted back to the jury in order to select the final song to be the next Swiss Eurovision entry.

The Swiss act was selected last year for Eurovision 2020, through an internal selection format based on a 21 member international jury and a 100 membered audience panel. In Rotterdam he was set to perform his song Répondez-moi which however never reached the Eurovision stage after last year's cancellation.
