Sweden: All 25 regional P4 Nästa 2020 selections completed; Time for the 8 finalists to be determined

• The radio song contest P4 Nästa, from which the first competing act of Melodifestivalen 2021 will come out, is moving on to its next phase as all 25 acts  have been selected through equal regional selections.

  P4 station held the previous two months a total of 25 regional selections across the Scandinavian country, in order to select 25 candidates for the P4 Nästa 2020 final.  The first selection took place on P4 Skaraborg while the rest unfolded up to Jul 17, when the last contest on P4 Blekinge closed the selection period. 

  Now the time competition move into its next stage with the selection of 8 finalists that will compete in the final show set for September 12,2020.

  The 25 acts that were selected during the previous eight weeks via regional selections are:

  What's to follow?

  As the 25 regional selections have been completed, now a special jury will evaluate the 25 winning acts and select the final 8 acts that will go to the final show next September. The Swedish national broadcaster will be selecting one of this eight acts to compete in the next edition of the Melodifestivalen via which the country's Eurovision representative is selected each year. 

   

  About P4 Nästa

  P4 Nästa is a music competition program in Sweden's Radio P4 and a nationwide talent hunt since 2008 . The aim of the competition is to find new artists and new music for the future. All 25 P4 districts participate in the competition where each of the districts nominates a winner. Thereafter, a jury, appointed by the Swedish Radio, selects eight of these grants to compete in a final. 

  In addition to the winning artist being airplayed on radio, he (since 2012) is also offered a place in the upcoming Melodifestivel. However, the winning artist must write a new contribution (or receive a newly written contribution) to the Melodifestivalen, since the winner radio contest can not be used in the Melodifestivalen because it must comply with EBU rules that want all entries released after September 1. 

  However the wildcard for Melodifestivalen is not always given to the winner but it might be awarded to another competing acts of the radio contest.
