-
The Romanian Eurovision 2021 hopeful, Roxen, has released the song she will be performing in Rotterdam, titled "Amnesia".
After last year's unfortunate cancellation of the Eurovision Song Contest TVR decided to stick with their Eurovision 2020 hopeful and invited back Roxen for Rotterdam in 2021 . The boradcaster decided to an internal song selection in order to determine Roxen's Eurovision 2021 entry. With the pandemic still going on and the social distancing restrictions implemented, TVR decided to abandon this year the national selection format used in previous editions, marking Romania's first time to select the country's Eurovision entry internally through a jury.
The members that made up the jury to select the song are:
- Luminita Anghel (Eurovision 2005 representative)
- Andrei Tudor (Composer and songwriter of Eurovision 2008 entry)
- Liana Stanciu ( Head of Delegatiion)
- Lucian Ştefan (Global Records)
- Bogdan Păun (Founder and Director of NGM Creative)
- Liviu Elekes ( Composer, director, producer)
- Bogdan Pavlică (Director of Top Music on RRA)
- Dan Manoliu (Producer and artistic director)
- Gabriel Scîrlet (Head of Music at TVR)
Roxen's entry 'Amnesia' is a modern song that moves within the same field of gentle sound we saw in her previous ESC entey "Alcohol you". The song features Roxen's familiar tone while her vocals fit in with the song's personal sound, conveying the personal story's sensitivity behind the lyrics.
The story speak of girl that is fighting all her fears and insecurities try to gain control of herself and accomplish an inner balance that will allow to deal with the surrounding circumstances.
Roxen stated to Eurovision.tv on her entry:
“The last year was a bit of a rollercoaster, filled with really good moments and some low points also. In the end, what kept me going the most was that I had some really great projects. Amnesia somehow manages to give a voice to all repressed feelings and to the people whose voices haven’t been heard, in a way that for me is incredibly pure. I would like to thank everyone who has been by my side all this time and has offered me all the support that I needed. ROXEN is made up of pieces from each and everyone of you.”
