OGAE International : The fan network launches OGAE Eurovision Fan Contest

  • Despite the heartbreaking cancellation of this year's Eurovision due to the coronavirus pandemic, OGAE International is launching  "The OGAE Eurovision Fan Constest" an alternative contest for fans to vote in order to find the ESC 2020 winner

As the 2020 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest has been cancelled due to the covid-19 outbreak, we didn't have the chance to find out this year's winner out of the 41 competing countries. The list of countires considered favorites to win the 2020 edition was not short. Countries like Bulgaria, Iceland, Lithuania, Malta, Switzerland, Italy were already the frontrunners in this year's race. But who would have crossed the finish line first?

OGAE International decided to find the answer to that question by giving a say to a wider body of voters in addition to its members. This time the poll will be open to everyone, not just OGAE members from around the world, as it happened in the previous years where the OGAE polls declared a winner adding the points awarded by the national club members exclusively.

In order to serve its objective OGAE International has joined forces with the online voting provider Mi-Voice in oreder togive Eurovision fans the chance to vote for their favourite song from among the 41 entries that should have been competing for the Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam in May.

Although the OGAE poll in the past didn't always predict the actual winner of the contest they achieved to predict the top  places of the final scoreboard. In 2019 the OGAE poll crowned Mahmood winner while the trophy went to Duncan from The Netherlands while in 2018 the poll predicted successfully Netta's victory in Lisbon.
