Norway: Alessandra Mele wins Melodi Grand Prix and will sing 'Queen of Kings at Eurovision 2023

Alessandra Mele won the Norwegian national final of Melodi Grand Prix 2023 and will fly the flag in Liverpool singing 'Queen of Kings'.
After three semi-final rounds, Melodi Grand Prix 2023 concluded this evening with the final show that selected Norway's Eurovision 2023 representative. The show took place at Trondheim Spectrum. Hosts of show were Arian Engebø and Stian Thorbjørnsen.
As three acts had qualified from each one of the three semi-finals, a total of nine acts took the stage this evening in Trondheim.
Namely those are:

- Eline Thorp — “Not Meant to Be”
- Skrellex — “Love Again”
- Ulrikke Brandstorp — “Honestly”
- Umami Tsunami — “Geronimo”
- Atle Pettersen — “Masterpiece”
- Swing’it — “Prohibition”
- Elsie Bay — “Love you in a dream”
- Alessandra — “Queen of Kings”
The results
In this year's Grand Final, for the first time since 2019, the outcome was determined by an international jury that contributed by 50% in the result while the remaining 50% was determined by the public vote.

Once the the public vote was added to the jury votes Alessandra was declared winner of Melodi Grand Prix 2023 and Norway's Eurovision representative in Liverpool.

Alessandra Watle Mele , born 5 September 2002 in Savona, Italy is a Norwegian-Italian singer. She first rose to fame in Norway in 2022, when she participated in The Voice Norway.
Mele grew up in the town of Cisano sul Neva in Savona, Italy. She has an Italian father, while her mother is Norwegian with roots at Stathelle in Bamble. After high school in 2021, she moved to Norway to be closer to her Norwegian family and at the same time pursue a music career. Already as a child she began to sing and dance, and she participated in her first singing competition at the age of six.
She studied piano and took singing lessons with a singing teacher in Italy.In Norway she started studying at the music school LIMPI in Lillehammer in the autumn of 2022.
The song is about daring to be yourself fully, and is based on Mele's own life and experiences as a bisexual. She will be competing in the 1st Semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest on May 9 in Liverpool.
