  • The Eurovsion 2019 runner up, Mahmood from Italy, has released his new album "Ghettolimpo".

    After his latest single 'Inuyasha' back in Febriary, Mahmood continues to conquere his place among the most important artists of the urban pop with a new album "Ghettolimpo" that marks his uniqueness in the contemporary scene. 

    The album opens up to a world of multiple faces and references , where each track has its own symbolism and the story of a character. A universe with many references, from  Japanese culture, Greek mythology and his own heritage are combined together with the experiences of modern heroes who live their daily lives, trying to overcome obstacles in different situations.

    "Ghettolimpo" consists of 15 tracks among which "Rapide" “Dorado” and “Inuyasha” and of course his brand new track “ZERO".

    A few words for Mahmood

    Mahmood ( or Alessandro Mahmood as his full name is), was born in  1992 in Milano and comes from an Egyptian father while his mother is from Sardinia. His fame arouse after his participation in the Italian   X-Factor, and he has competed in  Sanremo Giovani  2016 with the song “Dimentica”. In 2017 he works with the superstars Fabri Fibra and Michele Bravi. A year later he collaborates with  Dardust on the hit single “Nero Bali” by Elodie and Michele Bravi (Platinum), and he composed the music of a new album entitled  “Atlantico” in collaboration with Marco Mengoni , which includes the song “Ηola” with Tom Walker, while he released the song “Doppio Whisky” witht the rap star  Guè Pequeno. In 2018 o Mahmood his first  EP Gioventù Bruciata is released under  Island Records, producers of which are Ceri, MUUT and Katoo, including the duet Anni ‘90, another collaboration with Fabri Fibra.

    In December of  2018 he wins Sanremo Giovani  2018 with the entry Gioventù Bruciata , victory that secured him a spot in Sanremo festival 2019 which he also won with his song  “Soldi” earning the right to represent the country in Tel Aviv.

     

    Mahmood In Eurovision

    The Italian act after winning  Sanremo Music Festival among 24 contestants went on representing the country at the 64th Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv. Combining Italian lyrics with a piece of Arabic in his entry “Soldi” he was from the beginning a favorite to win. Eventually he was the runner up with 472 points ( 253 points from televoting and 219 points from national juries)

    Lets remember Mahmood’s interactive performance on the  Expo Tel Aviv  stage that marked his route on the road of glory .

    Mahmood is riding his wave of success becoming an author and singer loved by the Italian and international scene. Following his 2nd place in Eurovision 2019 and the excellent results achieved with "Gioventù Bruciata (platinum) and the global success of "Soldi" (quadruple platinum)  Mahmood dominated the Top 10 again in 2020 with “Rapide” and “Dorado” which will be included in Ghettolimpo, collecting a total of 15 platinum records, 6 golden records and over 400 million streams.
