Following the final decision that declared Liverpool the host city of the 67th Eurovision, plans concerning other side element of the contest are progressively coming to light.
While the next contest is set to take place on May 9,11 and 13, 2023 at the M&S Bank Arena, the ACC Complex, where the indorr arena is located, offers additional venues that can serve as Press Center and Delegation Bubble's spots. Eurovision Village is the official ‘fan zone’ of the festival where various Eurovision artists present their music and fans come together. Everyone can enjoy, because this stage is free of charge. Live performances, competitions, parties will all take place at this central Eurovision meeting point. In addition to all this visitors will be able to view the three live shows on big screens while stands demostrating the local food will be located at the same spot.
Liverpool seems to be opting for Pier Head, one of the city's most iconic places, as the location for the Eurovision 2023 village. During an interview to 'The Guide Liverpool' the Managing Director of M&S Arena, Ms. Faye Dwyer put some more details on the table regarding the plans for the next contest.
Ms Faye Dwyer revealed that the city is thinking of placing the Eurovision village at Pier Ahead while there will be somewhere else a Euroclub also. The Pier Head (or George's Pier Head) is a riverside location in the city centre of Liverpool, England. It was part of the former Liverpool Maritime Mercantile City UNESCO World Heritage Site, which was inscribed in 2004, but revoked in 2021.As well as a collection of landmark buildings, recreational open space, and a number of memorials, the Pier Head was (and for some traffic still is) the landing site for passenger ships travelling to and from the city.
While the preparations for the next contest will be unfolding over the following weeks and months we have to wait for EBU and BBS's official confirmation for the set up of the whole event and the final locations of the Eurovision Village and the Eurocub.
The 67th edition of Eurovision is set to take place on May 9,11 and 13, 2023 at the M&S Bank Arena.
