Czech Republic: We are DOMI selected for Eurovision 2022

• We are DOMI have been selected to represent Czech Republic at Eurovision 2022 after winning the national final ESCZ 2022  with their song "Lights Off". 

  And we have our sixth Eurovision 2022 hopeful as We Are DOMI won the Czech national final and will be flying the flag in Turin singing "Lights' Off". 

  A total of 7 finalists took part in ESCZ  2022 with the 7candidates compete all with recorded  performances in the form of Live on Tape, similar to ESC - live main vocals, background music playback.

  The seven entries of the Czech ESC 2022 national final are: 

  • Giudi –Jezinky
  • Elis Mraz –Imma Be
  • We Are Domi –Lights Off
  • Skywalker– Way Down
  • Annabelle– Runnin´ Out of Freakin´Time
  • Jordan Haj and Emma Smetana –By Now
  • The Valentines –Stay or go

   

  Voting will be again free. The final outcome was determined 50% by international jurors, 25% by international fans and 25% Czech fans. The public had the chance to cast their votes through the official Eurovision app from December 7 to December 15. 

  The results came out as following:

  1. We Are Domi – “Lights Off” – 21 points (1st – Winner)
  2. Elis Mraz – “Imma Be” – 17 points (2nd)
  3. GIUDI – “Jezinky” (Witch-maidens) – 15 points (3rd)
  4. Jordan Haj & Emma Smetana – “By Now” – 12 points (4th)
  5. Skywalker – “Way Down” – 12 points (4th)
  6. Anabelle – “Runnin’ Out of F* Time” – 11 points (6th)
  7. The Valentines – “Stay or Go” – 6 points (7th)

  A few words for We are DOMI

  We Are Domi is an electro-pop band which was formed in the United Kingdom in 2018 but is currently based in the Czech Republic. The group consist ofs a Czech-Norwegian trio led by singer Dominika Hašková , daughter of the famous Czech hockey player Dominika Hašek. Dominika met her music colleagues Casper Hatlestad and Benjamin Rekstad for the first time in Leeds, UK. They met at the local university and since 2018 they teamed up as a music group. They belong to the genre of electro-pop, which enriches the Nordic influence of both men's colleagues.

  The band, led by Dominika, is inspired by artists such as Sigrid and Dua Lipa. Domi has released hits such as Let Me Follow or Someone New in the past . Director Ruy Okamura often collaborates with We Are Domi on music videos.
  

   

  Czech Republic in Eurovision

  Czech Republic appeared for the first time in the Contest in 2007 with  Kabat. A a row of disappointing results the country withdrew in 2010 and didn’t return until 2016. In 2016 its return was followed by a grand final qualification for the first time . The best result came for the country in 2018 with  Mikolas Josef who achieved a top 10 placing by finishing  6th , in  Lisbon with his entry Lie to me.

  In 2019, Lake Malawi represented the country and finished 11th in the final . This was the country’s third qualification to the final . The outstanding element was the gap between the jury voting that placed the group 8th with 150 points while the public vote placed the Czech at the 24th place.

  In 2020 Benny Cristo was selected to represent the country with his song "Kemama" but as this year's contest was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic his Eurovision 2020 journey remained incomplete.  However the Czech hopeful had the chance to reach his Eurovision destination in 2021 with his song 'Omaga', but despite his energetic semi final 2 performance in Rotterdam failed to reach the Grand final show.
