Ukraine: Submissions for Junior Eurovision 2021 commence

Ukraine's preparations for the upcoming Junior Eurovision 2021 are in full swing with UA: PBC opening the submission window.
The Ukrainian national broadcaster, UA:PBC, has opened the sumbission period for all acts between 9 and 14 years old interest in representing the country at the 19th Junior Eurovision. Applicants must send in their songs to junior.eurovision.ua until September 19, 2021 and they can either be orginal songs or cover songs from the Ukraining entries since 2015 and up to 2020 or from the broadcaster's list
Namely the songs that can be sent as cover songs are:
- “Pochny z sebe” – Anna Trincher (2015)
- “Planet Craves for Love” – Sofia Rol (2016)
- “Don’t Stop” – Anastasiya Baginska (2017)
- “Say Love” – Darina Krasnovetska (2018)
- “The Spirit of Music” – Sophia Ivanko (2019)
- “Open Up” – Oleksandr Balabanov (JESC 2020)
- song "Hello" (a demo version of the audio recording of the song performed by Marina Krut is provided as a sample)
- songs from compilations of Ukrainian folk songs
- digital archive "Folk songs of Ukraine"
- online archive of Ukrainian song folklore - Polyphony
- art project "My Ukraine. Bervy " : an anthology of folk music
- vocals (singing without lyrics)
Once the submissions are completed a total of 12 to 16 songs will be shortlisted to take part in the national final. Participants that had submitted a cover song in their application will receive a new original song in order to compete in the national final show. The final will be a televised show with the outcome to be determined by a professional jury panel (4 experts in the field of music and 1 representative of the Public) and an online public voting.
This year's JESC national final project is held under the organisation of UA: Kultura TV channel.
Ukraine in Junior Eurovision
Ukraine took part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest for the first time in 2006. Their best result came in Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2012 when Anastasiya Petryk won for Ukraine with "Nebo". Her sister Viktoria Petryk previously came 2nd at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with "Matrosy".
Ukraine has hosted the competition in 2099 and 2013, with Kiev being the first city to host the contest twice, while Ukraine was then the second country after the Netherlands to host the competition twice. In 2019 Sophia Ivanko represented the country with “The Spirit of Music”, which finished 15th with 59 points.
Last year Oleksandr Balabanov represented the nation in Warsaw with "Vidkryvai (Open Up)" which finished 7th with a total of 106 points in the overall score (7th in the jury voting & 6th in the online voting).
