Spain: TVE confirms Junior Eurovision 2021 plans

  • The Spanish broadcaster, RTVE has confirmed they’re willing to take part at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021.

    RTVE made the respective announcement  during a special press conference where Soleá  talked about her impressions after the show and her 3rd place in the competition.

    During the press conference RTVE's Head of Entertainment,  Toñi Prieto  stated: 

    "We’ve started our return with very good results, so we’ll continue taking part, we want to amaze in the coming editions again."

    A proposal seems to be on the table already. During the Junior Eurovision 2020 celebration, Melani Garcia, who also finished third in 2019 for Spain, suggested to Soleá that they return together next year on the JESC stage. Toñi told the media that they will evaluate this option, which will surely make Soleá happy, as she’s already ready for a comeback.

     

    Spain in Junior Eurovision

    Spain has a total of five participations in the youth competition and has achieved remarkable results in its short history. The country counts a victory thanks to  "Antes muerta que sencilla"(Before dead than simple) by María Isabel (2004) , two second places ( Sergio, in 2003  and  Antonio José, in 2005 ) and a fourth position ( Dani Fernández, in 2006 ).

    Spain returned to the competition in the 2019 edition after 13 years of absence  and did it with an impressive. The young talented act starred in a memorable performance with "Marte" (Mars)  on the  stage of Gliwice-Silesia and achieved to finish in 3rd place. 

    This year the nation was represented by Soleá who performed the song 'Palante' which finished thrid on the overall scoreboard with 133 points.
