Spain: RTVE to share details about Junior Eurovision 2021 selection in September

  • The Spanish national broadcaster, RTVE, will make detailed announcements on the country's Junior Eurovision 2021 selection in September. 

    With the 19th edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest just over 4 months ahead the broadcaster are revealing their plans for the next Junior Eurovision in Paris on December 19. While other have already commnenced their selection process, RTVE made public that it will have more to say on the matter in September. 

    RTVE confirmed its participation in Junior Eurovision 2021 during the press conference in which a collaboration agreement was signed between the Generalitat Valenciana and the City Council to revive the mythical Spanish festival, Festival Internacional de la Canción de Benidorm' which will serve to select the Spanish representative in Eurovision 2022. This will be the nation's seventh participation and thrid in a row since its comemack in 2019. 

    ESCplus is reporting that RTVE has confirmed  to them thae following on the country's JESC 2021 participation: 

     “All the details of the system for electing the Spanish representative in Junior Eurovision at the end of the summer, in the month of September.“ 

    During the month of August the broadcaster will continue working on the children’s competition in order to have everything ready. The corporation is also working on all  details of the call for artists and songs for the Spanish national preselection that will be held in Benidorm, Alicante, next January, and that will also open at the beginning of the month.

     

    Spain in Junior Eurovision

    Spain has a total of five participations in the youth competition and has achieved remarkable results in its short history. The country counts a victory thanks to  "Antes muerta que sencilla" (Before dead than simple) by María Isabel (2004) , two second places ( Sergio, in 2003  and  Antonio José, in 2005 ) and a fourth position ( Dani Fernández, in 2006 ).

    Spain returned to the competition in the 2019 edition after 13 years of absence  and did it with an impressive. The young talented act starred in a memorable performance with "Marte" (Mars)  on the  stage of Gliwice-Silesia and achieved to finish in 3rd place. 

    This year the nation was represented by Soleá who performed the song 'Palante' which finished thrid on the overall scoreboard with 133 points.
