Spain: It's Soleá Fernández for Junior Eurovison 2020

  • The Spanish national broadcaster, RTVE,  has announced that Soleá Fernández will be the country's hopeful for Junior Eurovision 2020 in Warsaw next November. 

    Soleá Fernández will  represent  Spain  in  Junior Eurovision 2020 , which will be held on  November 29 . The 9-year-old act from Seville  is a member of one of the  most important  flamenco families in our country : the Farruco.  She is a self-taught artist and, despite her young age, she has shown her talent on some of the  most important stages in Spain.

    The young act herself stated on her participation: 

    "Representing Spain in  Junior Eurovision  is everything for me, it is fulfilling a dream that I have always wanted. It is incredible because being on stage in front of a 'million' people is a  dream come true".

    RTVE is already working on the song  with which Soleá will participate in the  18th edition of the contest , which has undergone changes due to  the Covid-19 pandemic . In order to  protect the health of the artists, delegations and the public , the  candidates will perform their songs in a studio in their own country.

     

    A fews words about Soleá

    Soleá Fernández Moreno was  born in Seville on June 19, 2011 in the bosom of an  outstanding saga of  dancers  and artists from Spain . Daughter of Farru, niece of Farruquito, granddaughter of Farruca and great-granddaughter of Farruco, it can be said that  art and flamenco run through her veins  and from a very young age she showed faculties for  singing, dancing and interpretation.

    In 2014,  when she was only three years old, she  made her debut as a singer at  La Maestranza in Seville during a family show Farruquito y familia . In 2015, she was the star of  the Christmas family show  where she made her debut as an actress and dancer at the  Quintero Theater in Seville.  In 2016 he starred in another Christmas show created by his father, which took him on a tour of some of the best theaters in the country, such as  the Apolo Theater (Barcelona) and the Rialto Theater (Madrid).  That same year he made his  first television appearance  thanks to the Canal Sur program Menuda noche.

    In 2019, she was one of the special guests at Ketama's  concert  at the  Cartuja Center in Seville. During Christmas of that year, the girl took part in  La zambombá flamenca , with which she  toured Spain  and shared the stage with artists such as  Pitingo, Tomatito or Rosario Flores.  At the beginning of 2020, he participated in the last album of the singer  Lya Manuela.

     

    Spain in Junior Eurovision

    Spain has a total of five participations in the youth competition and has achieved remarkable results in its short history. The country counts a victory thanks to  "Antes muerta que sencilla"(Before dead than simple) by María Isabel (2004) , two second places ( Sergio, in 2003  and  Antonio José, in 2005 ) and a fourth position ( Dani Fernández, in 2006 ).

    Spain returned to the competition in the last edition after 13 years of absence  and did it with an impressive. The young talented act starred in a memorable performance with "Marte" (Mars)  on the  stage of Gliwice-Silesia and achieved to finish in 3rd place.
