Serbia: Katarina Savić selected for Junior Eurovision 2022 in Yerevan, Armenia

  • The Serbian national broadcaster, RTS,  has announced that Katarina Savić has been elected for Junior Eurovision 2022 in Yerevan, Armenia.

    After making an open call to young talented artists for this year's Junior Eurovision participation, RTS through a special committee of music experts assessed all submission and decided that Katarina Savic will be flying the flag for Serbia at Junior Eurovision 2022 in Yerevan, Armenia. 

    The Serbian hopeful will be singing “Svet bez granica” (World without borders). The song was penned and composed by Ivana Dragićević and will be released over the next days. 

    Katarina is 13 years old and has devoted herself to singing, ballet dancing and playing trombone.

     

    Serbia in Junior Eurovision 

    Serbia debuted as an independent country in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in the 2006 edition, previously in the 2005 edition participated under the name "Serbia and Montenegro" when both countries were one.

    The country has participated since 2006 in all editions with the exception of the three-year parenthesis (2011 - 2013), still Serbia's best position in third place came in the 2007 and 2010 editions, while worst result was in the 2016 edition ranking last.

    In 2019 the Balkan country was represented by Darija Vračević  performed "Podigni glas" achieve a top 10 placing as she finished 10th with 109 points. In 2020 in Warsaw Petar Aničić represented the nation with his song “Heartbeat” finishing 11th with a total of 85 points. 

    Last year the duo Jovana and Dunja sang in Paris “Oči Deteta (Children’s Eyes)” representing the nation and finished 13th with a total of 86 points.
