  • The children that star on MRT's series Dajte Muzika will be the North Macedonian hopefuls for Junior Eurovision 2021. 

    With the date of the 19th Junior Eurovision Song Contest getting more closer, each one of the 19 participating countries are determining through national selections or internally their representative for Paris this December. 

    This year, the North Macedonian national broadcaster,  MRT decided to use the right of internal selection and election of a representative of Junior Eurovision 2021, in accordance with the current situation of the pandemic of Covid-19 and the introduction of new safety protocols. MRT announced that  the children who star in the TV series 'Dajte Muzika' will be the ones to defend the colors of the landlocked country in Paris. 

    Dajte Muzika is one of the most popular TV programms for children in North Macedonia, the main protagonists of which are a group of very talented actors and singers who in a short time became idols for the younger generation, having already released more than 80 songs and two albums within the framework of the show. This marks the first group that will be representing the country in its Junior Eurovision history and this year's first competing group. 

    The song that will represent country will be released within the following weeks. It will be composed by composers who are already collaborating on the project and are well acquainted with the vocal and artistic capacities of the children from the show.

     The 19th edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest will be held on December 19 at the spectacular La Seine Musicale Concert Hall in the City of Lights, Paris.

     

    North Macedonia in Junior Eurovision

    North Macedonia, previously presented in the contest as the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (F.Y.R. Macedonia), has participated in the competition 15 times since their debut in the inaugural 2003 contest missing out only the editions of 2012, 2014 and 2020. 

    In the first edition of the contest back inl 2003 in Copenhagen, Denmark, represented by the song "Ti ne me poznavaš" performed by Marija and Viktorija. The song placed 12th in a field of 16 countries.

    The country's best performance at the contest has been 5th place, achieved twice to date – in 2007 when North Macedonia was represented by the song "Ding Ding Dong" performed by Rosica Kulakova and Dimitar Stojmenovski, and in 2008 with "Prati mi SMS" performed by Bobi Andonov.

    In 2019 in Gliwice-Silesia the nation was represented by Mila Moskov with her song "Fire" which finished 6th, marking the country's best result since 2008 when they finished 5th.
