Malta: Malta Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022 finalists unveiled

The Maltese national broadcaster, PBS, has revealed the competing acts of the Malta Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022 national final.
Malta will be selecting their Junior Eurovision 2022 hopeful bia the Malta JESC format once again. A total of 16 competing acts will be taking part in this year's national final for Junior Eurovision 2022.
PBS has released the 16 competing acts of the national final along with the song titles of their respective entries. The 16 acts that will battle for the golden ticket leading to Yerevan, Armenia are:
- Emma Kate Formosa – “Bounce”
- Gaia Gambuzza – “Diamonds in the Skies”
- Shanzay Mangion – “Heartbeat”
- Kaylyn Mallia – “Here I Am”
- Aaliyah Cassar – “Infinity”
- Rih and Bri – “Karma”
- Cassidy Gauci – “Light Up”
- Naomi Busuttil – “Little Cheeky”
- Cesca Galea – “See the Invisible”
- Kayleen Mercicea – “Shooting Star”
- Andrea Camilleri – “Spark”
- Ma Girlz – “Stereo”
- Charelle Micallef – “The Extra Miles”
- Kensley Ciappara – “Tliet Xadini” (Three monkeys)
- Isis Jade Miller – “Unbreakable”
- Geneve Dimech – “With You By My Side”
The national final is set to take place on October 2, 2022 and the outcome will be determined 75% by jury voting and 25% by public voting. In case there is a tie the jury's verdict will count to determine the final result.
Malta in Junior Eurovision
Malta is one of the most succeful nations in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, having won already twice: in 2013 with Gaia Cauchi and her entry “The Start” , and in 2015 with Destiny Chukunyere singing “Not My Soul,”. The nation debuted in the competition at the first contest back in 2003, and has only missed two editions, in 2011 and 2012. Since then apart from the two victories it has accomplished six times to finish in the top 10 spots on the scorebaoard.
In JESC 2019 Eliana Gomez Blanco represented Malta in Gliwice- Silesia with “We Are More”, and came 19th with a totlal of 29 points. In 2020 the national final winner, Chanel Monseigneur , flew the flag in Warsaw with her song "Chasing Sunsets" which finished 8th with a total of 100 points.
Last year, Ike & Kaya won the national final and defended the Maltese colors in Paris singing 'My Home' which finished 12th in the final with 97 points.
