Portugal: RTP confirms participation in Junior Eurovision 2020

  • RTP, the Portuguese national broadcaster, has confirmed that it will be participating in this year's Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Warsaw, Poland. 

    RTP confirmed, in statements to Escportugal, which will be competing at the Eurovision Junior 2020 competition.Without revealing any details about the choice of Portugal's representative in the competition RTP just ensured that "if there is a competition, RTP will be present", taking into account  the evolution of the Covid-19 pandemic. It should be noted that Poland, the host country for this year's competition, recently announced the lifting of transportation restrictions for passengers from Portugal.

     

    Portugal in Junior Eurovision

    Debuting in 2006, Portugal has a total of five participations in the contest in the edition of 2006-2007 and 2017-2019, with the best result being the 14th place of Pedro Madeira and Mariana Venâncio in 2006 and 2017, respectively. 

    Last year in Gliwice, the country was represented by Joana Almeida and "Vem comigo (Come with Me)", finishing in 16th place with 43 points, all from the online vote.
