North Macedonia: MRT confirms their comeback to Junior Eurovision in the 2021 edition

  • The North Macedonian national broadcaster, MRT,  has confirmed that it will be returning in this year's Junior Eurovision Song Contest next December in Paris. 

    North Macedonia is the eleventh country that has confirmed that it will take part in this year's edition marking their comeback after their withdrawal from 2020 Junior Eurovision. MRT has revealed to Eurovoix that the landlocked country wil participate in the upcoming Junior Eurovision in Paris  on December 19,2021. 

     

    North Macedonia in Junior Eurovision

    North Macedonia, previously presented in the contest as the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (F.Y.R. Macedonia), has participated in the competition 15 times since their debut in the inaugural 2003 contest missing out only the editions of 2012, 2014 and 2020. 

    In the first edition of the contest back inl 2003 in Copenhagen, Denmark, represented by the song "Ti ne me poznavaš" performed by Marija and Viktorija. The song placed 12th in a field of 16 countries.

    The country's best performance at the contest has been 5th place, achieved twice to date – in 2007 when North Macedonia was represented by the song "Ding Ding Dong" performed by Rosica Kulakova and Dimitar Stojmenovski, and in 2008 with "Prati mi SMS" performed by Bobi Andonov.

    In 2019 in Gliwice-Silesia the nation was represented by Mila Moskov with her song "Fire" which finished 6th, marking the country's best result since 2008 when they finished 5th.
