The head of the San Marino delegation , Alessandro Capicchioni , has confirmed to ESCplus , the country will not participate in the 19th edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest set to take place on December 19, 2021 at La Seine Musicale in Paris, France.
Although they have not given any specific reason justifying their absence for another year, since 2016 when they withdrew, it is possible the difficulty in finding candidates who can represent them in the competition due to the low number of inhabitants of the country , might be one explanation for their decision. An alternative is to opt for Italian boys or girls or of any other nationality as in 2015, but in the latter case they must request authorization from the European Broadcasting Union.
