Junior Eurovision 2023: Rehearsals Day One in Nice

  • Junior Eurovision 2023 rehearsals kicked off today in Nice, France at at Nikaia Palais with the first 10 countries taking the stage. 

    Time to rehearse for the 16 delegates of this year's contest, with the rehearsals starting with the first set of ten contestants. First rehearsals are not be open to the press and material for the rehearsing countries are shared throughout the day on the official Junior Eurovision website

    Here are  how the rehearsals unfold in Nice today:

     

    Ukraine: Anastasia Dymyd – “Kvitka”

    First delegate to open the rehearsals is the youngest of this year's edition. It Ukraine's Anastasia along with her four backing dancers. The song is about flowers so pink, purple and blue are the colors dominating the staging. Anastasia is dressed in pastel pink dress while the dacners are also dressed in a more  plain satin pink. 

    The staging is quite similar to the one of the national selection while a red love heart fetures on Anastasia's top part of the dress. Her staging certainly gives us the happy and colorful vibes of Valentina's performance back in 2020. 

     

    North Macedonia: Tamara Grujeska – “Kaži mi, kaži mi koj”

    Second to rehearse is Tamara Grujeska from North Macedonia. She appears ons stage wearing a white outfit with a touch of black strips on the top part and the sleeves. Her staging includes a LED screen on the backdrop diplaying a floral purple environment. The surround is dominated mosty bt blue and nave blue colors. 

     

     

    Germany: Fia – “Ohne Worte”

    Thrid delgate to take the stage for her first rehearsal is Fia from Germany performing 'Ohne Worte'. Fia wear an electro dark pink shirt paired with combo trousers while he backing dance is dressed in shorts to the knee cobined with a cropped top. 

     Again pink purple and blue are the dominating colors of the staging with a touch of orange warm colors taking over for a while. The use of LED screen features the staging  on which Lanterns  are displayed impressively Lanterns creating a magical surrounding. 

     

     Estonia: Arhanna – “Hoiame kokku”

    Estonia is debuting in this year's Junior Eurovisiona and Arhanna has the honor to be the first JESC representative. She takes the stage dress in a balck dress paired with a black jakcket while red ribbons ate left on her shoulder. The staging of her song is rather dark while herself is sitting on a bench while red dominates the scenery. 

     

     United Kingdom: Stand Uniqu3 – “Back to Life”

    Nexu up for their first rehearsal are Stand Uniqu3 representing the United Kingdom. The British trio delivers their song pretty much like in thei music video. The staging sees them raise up on neon lighted diamond shapes with a colorful backdrop taking over as the song progressess. 

    The trio is joined as the song progressess by three backing dancers while neon lights reinforce the whole colorful backdrop. 

     

    Netherlands: Sep and Jasmijn – “Holding On to You”

    The Dutch duo of Sep & Jasmijn are the next to rehearse for the first time. Jasmijn apprears on stage in a total sparkling red outfit while Sep is wearing electric blue colored trousers with a blue white jacket on top.

     

    They are supoorted by three backing dancers and a DJ lifted up in a diamond shape construction lit up with neon lights. The backgroup is mailnly dark blue with pink spotlights giving pink flashes of light on the stage. Their perfomance is quite similar to the national final one. 

     

    Malta: Yulan – “Stronger”

    Seventh act to rehearse today is Julan from Malta. Julan is wearing black trousers paired with a blakc jacket and a white top inside. Her staging is all about simplicity but serves the songs she delivers.

    A rather dark colored backdrop with images of herself displayed on the LDE Screen behind. 

    Portugal: Júlia Machado – “Where I Belong”

    It's time for Portugal's hopeful Julia Machado to run her first set of rehearsals of 'Where I belong'. Julia appears alone on stage in a pink dress with a multi fringe finish on top.

     She begins her performance from a lying position and stands up as the song progresses. On the backdrop shades of greens dominate the stage. Simplicity in her staging drives the audience to focus on her and the vocal performance. 

     

    Georgia: Anastasia and Ranina – “Over the Sky”

    After 8 countries it's Georgia's turn to reharse in Nikaia Palais with Anastasia & Ranina taking the stage to deliver 'Over the Sky'.  The two of them are wearing both white outfits with Anastasia in a white dress with black ends. Two backing dancers join them on stage wearing an outfit witg an back ending let look as a parachute  and attracts the attention on stage.

    The backdrop switches between white to blue and pink colors to a sky blue floral environment. 

     

     Armenia: Yan Girls – “Do It My Way”

    Day One Rehearsal here in Nikaia Palais conclude with Armenia and the Yan Girls doing their way! The girl band takes the stage wearing similar style outfits in different colors. Sporty combo trousers in whte and black paired with slim fit different colores tops is our case here. 

    The Yan Girls are bringing their energy on stage in their own way in a colorful backdrop that resembles to a puzzle of grafities. 

     

    The rehearsal continue tomorrow in Nikaia Palais in Nice with the rest six nations set to take the stage for their own rehearsal. The Junior Eurovision final live show will hit the screnn on Sunday, November 26 at 16:00 CET.
