Ukraine: Zlata Dziunka selected for Junior Eurovision 2022

  • The Ukrainian national final for Junior Eurovision 2022 took place this evening selecting Zlata Dziunka to fly the flag in Yerevan sining 'Nezlamna' (Unbreakable)

    In a selection show that was presented by Timur Miroshnychenko and which saw a total of five contestants Ukraine decided which act  to represent the nation at the 20th edition of Junior Eurovision in Yerevan, Armenia.

     

     

    The five acts that took the stage in this evening's national final were: 

    1. Sofia Artemenko and DJ Polinka – “Zamovlyannya” (Order)
    2. Zlata Dzyunka – “Nezlamna” (Unbreakable) 
    3. Elizaveta Petruk – “Pisnya pro Lelechat” (Stork song) 
    4. Darya Rebrova – “Paporoti kvitka” (Fern flower)
    5. Diana Stasiuk – “We are the Future” 

    The outcome of final was determined by jury and public voting. The jury members, who were selected previously by the public, were:

    • Khrystyna Solovyy (singer-songwriter)
    • Myroslava Saliy (singer, vocal coach)
    • Anzhelika Rudnytska (TV presenter, artist)

     

    The results

    Once all points were counted the race came down to a tie between Sofia Artemenko & DJ Polinka and Zlata Dzyunka. Then the jury took decision on the final winner sending Zlata to Yereven. Here how the results came out: 

    Zlata Dzyunka - 5 jury points + 4 public points = 9 points (1st place)

    Sofia Artemenko and DJ Polinka – 4 Jury points + 5 public points = 9 points (2nd place)

    Darya Rebrova – 3 jury points + 3 public points = 6 points (3rd place)

    Diana Stasiuk –  2 jury points + 1 public point = 3 points (4th place)

    Elizaveta Petruk – 1 jury point + 2 public points = 3 points (5th place)

    A few words for Zlata

    14 year old Zlata has already  has a wide epxerience of competition stages as she has participated in several competitions such as Prague Art Festival (Czech Republic), Zvaigzdziu Sonata 2022 (Lithuania), and Vistula Sounds 2022 (Poland).

    The young talented act from Ukraine plays the ukulele, and prefers singing in different styles such as blues, soul, and jazz.

     

    Ukraine in Junior Eurovision 

    Ukraine took part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest for the first time in 2006. Their best result came in Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2012 when Anastasiya Petryk won for Ukraine with "Nebo". Her sister Viktoria Petryk previously came 2nd at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with "Matrosy".

    Ukraine has hosted the competition in 2099 and 2013,  with Kiev being the first city to host the contest twice, while Ukraine was then the second country after the Netherlands to host the competition twice. In 2019 Sophia Ivanko represented the country with “The Spirit of Music”, which finished 15th with 59 points. In 2020 Oleksandr Balabanov represented the nation in Warsaw with "Vidkryvai (Open Up)" which finished 7th  with a total of 106 points in the overall score (7th in the jury voting & 6th in the online voting).

    Last year national final winner, Olena Usenko, defended the Ukrainian colors in Paris singing 'Vazhil' which finished in 6th place receiving a total of 126 points.
