JESC 2022 Rehearsals Day One: First set of countries run their first rehearsal

  • Junior Eurovision 2022 rehearsals kick off today in Yerevan at at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concerts Complex with the first 7 countries taking the stage. 

    Time to rehearse for the 16 delegates of this year's contest, with the rehearsals starting with the first set of seven contestants. First rehearsal will not be open to the press and material for the rehearsing countries will be shared throughout the day on the official Junior Eurovision website

    Here are  how the rehearsals unfold in Yerevan today: 

     

    1. Albania - Kejtlin Gjata

    The first act to take the stage for her first rehearsal is Kejtlin Gjata from Albania. Ketlin secured her spot in the Junior Eurovision 2022 class after winning the national final in Albania with her song Pakëz Diell which translates 'A bit of sunlight'. He ballad song which has been penned by herself takes us to her world where love and peace dominate everything. 

    Kejtlin wears a pink short dress with tulles combined with a long overcoat that starts from the shoulders and ends in tulles down low. 

     

    2. Ukraine - Zlata Dziunka

    Second to rehearse today is Zlata from Ukaine. The 14 year old Zlata has already  has a wide epxerience of competition stages as she has participated in several competitions such as Prague Art Festival (Czech Republic), Zvaigzdziu Sonata 2022 (Lithuania), and Vistula Sounds 2022 (Poland).

    Her song 'Nezlamna' (Unbreakable) certainly fits the situation in Ukraine right now with people fleeing due to the war, the ones remaining suffering from the war consequences but this won't break them. Zlata is here to sing her heart out ! 

     

    3. Malta - Gaia Gambuzza

    One of the diamonds in the sky just dropped on Yerevan's JESC 2022 stage and is shining bright! Malta's Gaia Gambuzza is up next for her first rehearsal of 'Diamonds in the Skies'

    Gaia Gambuzza is 13 years old and besides singing she loves playing the piano and musical theater. She has already a wide experience of big stages. Precisely, she took part in the Sanremo Junior Festival earlier this year while she had advanced to the finals of IBand 2021.

    After winning the Maltese national final she is here in Yerevan takeing us to her world of science fiction. The staging is similar to the  surreal environment of the song's music video and is crafted in an 80s style, with Gaia wearing a silver space outfit. 

     

    4. Serbia - Katarina Savic

    Fourth reheasal of the days comes from Serbia and their Junior eurovision hopeful Katarina Savic. Katarina is 13 years old and has devoted herself to singing, ballet dancing and playing trombone. Her song  “Svet bez granica” (World without borders) penned and composed by Ivana Dragićević is here to spread the message of peace and tolerance. For Katarina it's the only way to set up a world without borders.

    Katarina takes the stage and showcases with her appearance what she is all about. Her red ballet dress and the trombone tell the stories of two the things the young acts loves more. 

     

    5. Poland - Laura Bączkiewicz

    Laura from Poland takes the stage for her firsr rehearsal and promises us a ride to the moon.  She is 11 years old a attends the 4th grade of the Primary School in Konin. On a daily basis, he learns singing at the Hit Stage Song Studio. For over 2 years he has been dubbing in cartoons, series and films. She appeared in the fifth edition of "The Voice Kids".

    Her staging of her song 'To the moon' is what the title describes. Laura is dressed in shiny silver trouses paired with a silver shiny jacket on top while the whole scenery  resembles to the moon's cloudy space environment.

     

    6. North Macedonia: Lara, Irina and Jovan

    The North Macedonian trio is up next with the country's hopefuls Lara, Irina and Jovan making their first rehearsal of “Životot E Pred Mene” (Life is ahead of me).  

    The three of them appear on stage wearing colorful clothes combininb a green colored skirt with a purple dress and Jovan's red top jacket. A colorful vivid scenery that fits the occasion as the song aims to convey a optimistic inspiring message to all the young people that have life laying straight ahead and should sip every drop of the ocean opening in front of them. 

     

    7. Portugal - Nicolas Alves

     Portugal's Nicolas Alves takes the stage for his first rehearsal of 'Anos 70' and know how to showcase his talent. 

    Nicolas Alves is 13 years old and although he comes from Torres Vedras. He lives with his parents and his brothers.The parents' family is Brazilian, but he was born in England which he left at the age of 10.He started singing when he was four. At 8, he began singing at music school in England.As a kid, I watched videos of Michael Jackson and Fred Mercury and always thought I wanted to be a singer like them.In his spare time he likes to play guitar and play with his brothers.

    The audience got to know him better with his participation in the Voice Kids Portugal wheere he saw three chairs turninng for him in the blind auditions and him joining Carolina Deslandes' team. In the final show he performed impressively the song 'Beggin'. 

    Nicolas appears on stage wearing simple casual style clothes. Black jeans with a white t-shirt paired with a black furry long coat on top. Holding his electric guitar he delivers his song in a background switching from dark red colors to more bright scenery telling from the pictures released.
