Albania: RTSH will take part in Junior Eurovision 2022

  • The Albanian national broadcaster, RTSH, has confirmed that the country will be taking part in the 20th edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Yerevan, Armenia.

    RTSH has confirmed that Albania will be present at Junior Eurovision 2022 in Armenia the coming December and has kicked off the process for the selection of the next repesentative. 

    Albania will be selecting for a fifth consecutive year their JESC entrant through the 'Junior Fest' format which was used for the first time back in 2012. RTSH has for this reason made an a call for entries to compete in the national selection the deadline for which expired on September 5, 2022. The submissions can be sent  to [email protected].

    The rules of the selection include the following terms: 

    • All songs should be submitted in their final version
    • All submissions must include the lyrics and the names of the composers and songwriters
    • Duration of the proposed song should be at lest 2 minutes 30 long and cannot go over 3 minutes
    • Acts ages from 9 to 14 years old as of December 11 are eligible to apply

    Albania in Junior Eurovision

    Albania has been taking part in Junior Eurovision since 2012 and has missed out the edition in 2013 and 2014. The best result came in 2015 when the country finished 5th with Mishela Rapo singing Dambaje while in 2018 Efi Gjika who finished 17th with her entry Barbie and in 2019 in Gliwice-Silesia, Poland,  where Isea Çili finished 17th with “Mikja ime fëmijëri”

    While the country withdrew in 2022 from the competition in Warsaw, last year they retunred with Anna Gjebrea singing in Paris “Stand by You” which finished 14th with 84 points.
