Finland: Laura's UMK 2021 entry "Play" has been released

The Finnish broadcaster, YLE, has released Laura's entry 'Play' one more song out of the seven that will compete in the upcoming national final, UMK 2021.
YLE is progressively unveiling the seven songs that will compete in the Finnish national final , UMK 2021, the show to determine the country's Eurovision 2021 hopeful. Today it was time for Laura's competing entry "Play" to go public.
Play is a s song features a mixture of pop and country elements and tells the story of an on-off human relationship where the other party gets tired of always coming back and forgiving. Laura believes the story appeals to many listeners. As she says:
"I want the listener to open his soul to the song and receive musical strength and support that will help move forward in everyday life as well as in human relationships."
In addition to Laura herself, behind the song are, the producer-composer Karl-Ander Reismann , whose pen has produced songs that have been successful in the Estonian Eurovision Song Contest for several years in a row, as well as singer-songwriter Reinis Straume, who also competed in the Latvian X-Factor.
A few words for Laura
Laura Põldvere is one of the most experienced and successful artists in Estonia and the most played artist on Estonian radio in the last decade. Born on August 30, 1988 she has represented twice the Baltic country at the Eurovision Song Contest, in 2005 as member of the group Suntribe and in 2017 as part fo the duo with Koit Toome performing the song 'Verona' in Kiev. Unfortunately in both occasions the entries didn't advance to the Grand final. Especially in 2017 the result came as a surprise, as 'Verona' was one of the fans' favorites.
Besides her two ESC participations she attempted to reach the Eurovision stage by competing in the Estonian national final "Eesti Laul" four more times. In 2007 with her song "Sunflowers" when she came third and in 2009 singing her entry "Destiny" which also came third. In 2016 she returned to the national selection with her song "Supersonic" which finished second in the Superfinal round. Last year she competed in Eesti Laul 2020 with the song 'Break Me' and finished 11th out of 12 entries.
In dicography her debut album "Muusa" was released back in 2007 while in 2011 her first compilation album "Sädemeid taevast" came out, which consisted of all her singles since 2005 to 2011 as well as a track from her second studio album "Ultra".

All UMK entries are going public on digital platforms, YLE’s streaming service, Youtube and Spotify on daily basis from 14-22 January. With four already gone public 3 remain to be released.

The national final will take place on February 20 and the final outcome will be determined by public and jury voting. The final will be held at Tampere Mediapolis' TV studios, and will be aired live on Yle TV1 and Yle Areena.
