Eurovision 2021: First Rehearsal for James Newman from the United Kingdom
Thursday, 13 May 2021

  • The Big-5 countries' rehearsals continued with the United Kingdom as James Newman took the stage to make the first rehearsal of his entry "Embers".

James Newman is one of the returning acts from last year's cancelled Eurovision, with BBC inviting back the act for this year's contest.

James is no stranger to the Eurovision family as he was co-writer of “Dying to Try” by Brendan Murray, who represented Ireland at ESC 2017, in Kiev. He has also collaborated with the Australian ESC 2015 act, Guy Sebastian, in his track “Keep Me Coming Back” which is included in his album entitled Conscious.

    The staging

James Newman, United Kingdom, First Rehearsal, Rotterdam Ahoy, 13 May 2021

The perform start with James Newman standing on a pedestal with lasers around him while on the right and left we see two huge white trumpets. The British act is joined by two dancers in white playing trumpets. The scene is dominated by red, orange and blue color.

James Newman's vocals are good and  satisfying while the whole performance ends in the same way it began with the James on the podium with lasers in the scene.
