Tonight: Sanremo Festival 2023 kicks off with the first evening's show

  • The 73rd edition of the Sanremo Festival is set to kick off tonight with the first evening's show taking place in Ariston Theatre. 

    Out of the 28 contestants, 22 have been invited by the artistic director, Amadeus, whilst the last 6 have came out of the Sanremo Giovani festival. From Tuesday 7 February live on Rai1, RaiPlay and Radio2 - the festival will unfold without any eliminations reaching the final night on February 11, during which the winner will be delcared. 


    This evening the first set of 14 acts will take the stage to perform their entries. Namely these are:

    • Anna Oxa  – Sali (Canto dell’anima)” (Go out (Song of the soul)
    • Ariete – Mare di guai” (Sea of trouble)
    • Colla Zio – “Non mi va” (I do not feel like)
    • Come_Cose – L’addio” (The goodbye)
    • I Cugini di Campgna – Lettera 22″ (Letter 22)
    • Elodie – Due” (Two)
    • Gianluca Grignani – Quando ti manca il fiato” (When you’re out of breath)
    • gIANMARIA – “Mostro” (Monster)
    • Leo Gassman –Terzo cuore” (Third heart)
    • Mara Sattei – Duemilaminuti” (Twothousandminutes)
    • Marco Mengoni –Due vite” (Two lives)
    • Mr. Rain –Supereroi” (Superheroes)
    • OLLY – “Polvere” (Dust)
    • Ultimo –Alba” (Dawn)


    Sanemo Festival 2022 is set to unfold over five nights from February 7 to February 11, 2023. For each show Amadeus will have on his side one more act to co-host the show. Tonight he will he conducting the show alongside with Italian influencer and fashion blogger Chiara Ferragni.


    First evening's voting process

    According to the voting system, during the first two evenings the results will be influenced by the three bodies, Jury of the Press Room & TV, Radio and Web jury with the first two having a 33,3% contribution to the result and the Radio and Web also a  33,3% share. After the vote, a ranking of the 14 songs / artists performed in each of the two evenings will be drawn up.

    Additionally, Eurovision 2022 participants and last year’s winners of the Sanremo Mahmood & Blanco will appear on this first night, while the show will also feature the group Pooh along with Roby Facchinetti, Red Canzian and Dodi Battaglia plus Riccardo Fogli.


    How to Watch

    The first night of Sanremo festival is set to hit the screen at 20:40 CET and you can watch it either on RAI 1 or RaiPlay.
