Portugal: Festival da Canção 2023 First Semi-final results

  • The first seven finalists of the Portuguese national selection for Eurovision 2023 have been determined with the first semi final show of Festival da Canção 2023.

    Portugal is using once again its traditional national selection format of Festival da Canção which is running for its 57th edition. An in studio jury and public voting chose five acts to pass the finals but due to technical issues a free pass to the finals was given to “Sapatos de Cimento” performed by Esse Povo. After the results the vote lines opened again where the public were able to save one more artist. The 1st semi final show took place in RTP studios in Lisbon and was hosted by Sónia Araújo and Jorge Gabriel.

    A total of 10 acts will compete in this first semi final heat in the following running order: 

     

    MoYah – “Too Much Sauce”

     

    BOLHA – “Sonhos de Liberdade” (Dreams of freedom)

     

    April Ivy – “Modo Voo” (Flight Mode)

     

    Churky – “Encruzilhada” (Crossroads)

     

    Cláudia Pascoal – “Nasci Maria” (I was born Maria)

     

    SAL – “Viver” (To Live)

     

    Mimicat – “Ai Coração” (Oh heart)

     

    You Can’t Win, Charlie Brown – “Contraste Mudo” (Mute contrast)

     

    NEON SOHO – “Endless World” 

     

    Esse Povo – “Sapatos de Cimento” (Cement shoes)

     

    The results
     
    A combination of jury and public voting ( 50% share each) determined which seven acts qualified to the Grand final of Festival da Canção 2022 . Namely those are: 
    1. Churky – “Encruzilhada” (Crossroads)
    2. Cláudia Pascoal – “Nasci Maria” (I was born Maria)
    3. SAL – “Viver” (To Live)
    4. Mimicat – “Ai Coração” (Oh heart)
    5. You Can’t Win, Charlie Brown – “Contraste Mudo” (Mute contrast)
    6. NEON SOHO – “Endless World” – audience wildcard
    7. Esse Povo – “Sapatos de Cimento” (Cement shoes) – qualified via technicality
    The Portugues national selection will continue on Monday, March 4 with the second semi final show during which 10 more acts will compete for the rest five spots in the Grand final.
