  • The Norwegian national selection for Eurovision 2023 kicked off tonight with the first semi final show of Melodi Grand Prix 2023 determining the first three qualifiers for the Grand final. 

    The first semi final of MGP 2023 opened Norway's quest for their next Eurovision hopeful with seven acts taking the stage in Oslo in order to secure one of the three spots that lead to the Grand Final of February 4. The show was hopsted by Arianrhod Engebø and Staysman.

    The seven acts that took the stage this evening were the following, the performances of which you can watch by clicking the song titles: 

    1. Alessandra Mele – 'Queen of Kings'
    2. Erik Næss – 'Wave''
    3. Rasmus Thall – 'TRESKO'
    4. Kate Gullbrandsen – 'Tårer i paradis'
    5. Umami Tsunami featuring Kyle Alessandro, Kristian Haugstøyl & Magnus Winjum – 'Geronimo'
    6. Ulrikke Brandstorp – 'Honestly'
    7. Byron Williams Jr & Jowst –'Freaky For The Weekend'

     

    The results of the show were determined exclusively by the public voting. The public's verdict sent to the Grand final of MGP 2023 the following three acts: 

    1.Umami Tsunami featuring Kyle Alessandro, Kristian Haugstøyl & Magnus Winjum – “Geronimo“

     

    Ulrikke Brandstorp –“Honestly“

     

    3.Alessandra Mele – “Queen of Kings“

     

    The Norwegian national selection for Eurovision 2023 continues next week with the second semi-final of Melodi Grand Prix 2023.
