Lithuania: Monika Linkytė to Eurovision 2023 with the song

  • Monika Linkytė won the Lithuanian national final of Pabandom iš naujo! 2023 singing "Stay" and will be flying to Liverpool as the county's Eurovision 2023 hopeful.

    Pabandom iš naujo 2023 consists of five shows. After two qualifying rounds and two semifinals the Grand final show took place this evening. The show hosted the trio  Giedrius Masalskis, Augustė Nombeko and Richardas Jonaitis. 

     

     

    Last year's representative Monika Liu, Ukraine's 2023's representative TVORCHI and the winner of 2019's Eurovision Song Contest Duncan Laurence featured the show as guest performing on stage.

    A total of 10 acts that qualified from the two semifinals competed for the right to represent Lithuania at Eurovision 2023. The acts that competed in the national final were:

    The results

    The outcome was detemined by public voting (50%) and jury voting (50%). The members of the jury whch influenced 50% of the result were:

    A few words for Monika Linkytė

    Monika Linkytė is a Lithuanian singer and songwriter. She represented Lithuania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 along with Vaidas Baumila with the song "This Time", placing 18th. She also represented Lithuania in the New Wave 2014 competition and was a finalist on season two of Lietuvos Balsas.

    Linkytė was born on 3 June 1992 in Gargždai. After completing gymnasium, she moved to Vilnius to attend Vilnius University, studying public health, but left after three semesters. In 2014, she began studying law at Vilnius University, but in 2016 left to study music education at the British and Irish Modern Music Institute in London.

    After Eurovision, Linkytė released the single "Po dangum", which went on to be certified platinum in Lithuania. Her debut studio album Walk with Me was released on 17 September 2015, and was also certified platinum. She went on to win Best Album for Walk with Me, Best Song for "Po dangum", and Best Female Act at the 2015 M.A.M.A. Awards, the largest music awards ceremony in Lithuania. She was nominated for Best Female Act once again at the 2016 awards.
