Iceland: Söngvakeppnin 2023 first semi-final results

The Icelandic national selection for Eurovision 2023 kicked off this evening with the first semi final of Söngvakeppnin 2023.
Iceland is selecting their Eurovision 2023 through the show of Söngvakeppnin 2022 hosted by the musician Unnsteinn Manuel Stefánsson, tv presenter Ragnhildur Steinunn Jónsdóttir plus radio producer and music director of RÚV's Channel 2 Sigurður Þorri Gunnarsson. All entries had to be performed in Icelandic in the semi-finals.
A total of 132 songs were submitted during the submssion period, a special committee shorlisted 10 entries that will be competing in the national selection, which will consist of two semifinals and one grand final show.
Five acts competed in this semi final heat with the public voting to determine two qualifiers from each semi final. In addition the jury will choose one more entry to advance to the final show from the non-qualifiers of the semifinals.
In this evening's first semi-final show:
BRAGI – Stundum snýst heimurinn gegn þér
MÓA – Glötuð ást
Bendeikt – Þora
Celebs – Dómsdagsdans
Diljá – Lifandi inni í mér
The two acts that were chosen by the public to proress to the final show are:
- BRAGI – "Stundum snýst heimurinn gegn þér "
- Diljá – "Lifandi inni í mér"
The Icelandic selection continues next Saturday, February 25 with the second semi final show to determine two more qualifiers.
