Germany: National final 'Unser Lied für Liverpool' date and details released

• The German broadcaster, NDR, has confirmed the national final 'Unser Lied für Liverpool'  for March 3, 2023 along with details of the selection for Eurovision 2023. 

  The Germany national final for Eurovision 2023 'Unser Lied für Liverpool' is set to take place  22:20 CET on March 3 in the MMC Studios in Cologne.

  The show that will be aired live on ARD and streamed via eurovision.de and ARD Mediathek will be hosted by Barbara Schöneberger.

  While the number of participating acts is yet to be comfirmed, one of the competing acts will be selected as a TikTok wildcard, which will be determined via an online public voting will run from January 27 to February 3. The outcome of the voting will be revealed during the first episode new online show Alles Eurovision with Alina Stiegler and Stefan Spiegel on February 4 at 18:00 CET live on eurovision.de.

  Germany in Eurovision

  Germany is one of the  Big-5 countries and qualifies directly to the Eurovision Grand final. The country has participated in every edition of the Eurovision Song Contest since 1956, with one year’s exception back in 1996.  The country has won the competition twice, namely in 1982 and 2010.

  Ben Dolic was internally selected to represent Germany at the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam with his entry Violent Thing. Unfortunately young act never had the chance to complete his Eurovision journey as the contest was cancelled due to the covid-19 pandemic.

  Last year Jendrick Sigwart defended the German colors in Rotterdam with his song 'I don't feel hate'. Jendrik finished 25th in the final, marking Germany's second in a row 2nd last placing, receiving only 3 points from the juries and zero points from the public voting. This year Malick Harris won the national final and flew the flag in Turin singing 'Rockstars' which sadly finished in the last place.
