Eurovision 2023: Ukraine and the EBU to kick off talks for next year's hosting on Friday

  • Talks between the EBU and Ukraine regarding hosting the 67th Eurovision Song Contest will begin on Friday. 

    Following Kalush Orchestra's triumph at the Eurovision Song Contrest in Turin last Saturday, the Urkainian band and the Public broadcaster held a press conference in Lviv for Ukrainian journalists after returning from Italy, during which it was revealed that talks with EBU about next year's hosting will commence on Friday. 

    The head of the Ukrainian delegation Oksana Skybinska officially handed over the folder from the organizers of Eurovision to the chairman of the board of Public Mykola Chernotytsky . The Head of Delegation stated during the press conference: 

    "This victory means that we have a new task ahead of us, a new challenge - to hold the Eurovision Song Contest 2023. In Turin, we received this cherished folder from the organizers. It contains key documents of the competition, as it should be, because it is a great international an event that involves significant preparation"

    In addition, Mykola Chernotytskyi said that during this year's Eurovision the highest viewing rates were recorded both on the TV channel and on digital platforms. He also noted that consultations with the European Language Union will begin on Friday, as the competition in 2023 raises not only financial or infrastructural issues, but also security issues. But Public and Ukraine as a whole will do everything possible to hold Eurovision 2023 in Ukraine.

     

    Kalush Orchestra competed in the Grand final of the 66th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest singing 'Stefania' and achieved to bring home the third trophy for Ukraine receiving an unprecedented score in the televoting receiving 439 points which gave them the lead with a total of 631 points in the overall score.
