Eurovision 2023: EBU confirms 37 participating countries for next year's contest

And the magic number is 37! The EBU has confirmed that 37 countries will be taking part at the 67th Eurovision Song Contest next year in Liverpool, UK.
The official lists of the competing countries and broadcasters for Eurovision 2023 is out and now we know that 37 nations will be joining the party in Liverpool next May.
31 countries will be competing in the two semifinals on May 9 and 11 while the Big 5 countries ( United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain and Italy) will qualify directly to the Grand final on May 13, 2023 along with last year's winning country, Ukraine. The Grand final will see a total of 26 countries competing for the trophy.

The Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest, Martin Österdahl stated the following:
“We’re looking forward to welcoming artists from all 37 countries to Liverpool, the city of pop, next May.
Next year’s competition promises to be an extra special one and we’re working hard with the BBC right now to ensure that hundreds of millions of viewers will enjoy the best Eurovision Song Contest yet, with Ukraine at the heart of the event.”
Martin Green, BBC’s Managing Director of the Eurovision Song Contest says:
“We are incredibly proud to be hosting the Eurovision Song Contest on behalf of Ukraine and welcoming delegations from 37 countries to Liverpool next year. The BBC is committed to making the event a true reflection of Ukrainian culture and showcasing British creativity to a global audience.”

The 67th edition is set to take place in Liverpool at the M&S Bank Arena on May 9, 11 and 13, 2023.
In 2019, Liverpool was the fifth most visited UK city. It is noted for its culture, architecture and transport links. The city is closely associated with the arts, especially music; the popularity of the Beatles, widely regarded as the most influential band of all time. Liverpool is internationally known for music and is recognised by Guinness World Records as the World Capital City of Pop.Musicians from the city have produced 56 No. 1 singles, more than any other city in the world.
M&S Bank Arena, is a multi-purpose indoor arena in the city centre of Liverpool, England. The venue hosts live music, comedy performances and sporting events, and forms part of Liverpool event campus ACC Liverpool – an interconnected arena, exhibition and convention centre.
Opened in 2008 the 11,000-seat arena hosted the MTV Europe Music Awards the same year and since then has held host to world-renowned acts such as Andrea Bocelli, Beyoncé, Elton John, Kanye West, Kasabian, The Killers, Lady Gaga, Oasis, Pink, Rihanna, UB40.
