Belgium: It's Gustaph with 'Because of you' to Eurovision 2023

  • Gustaph will be representing Belgium at Eurovision 2023 after winning the national final Eurosong 2023 singing 'Because of you'.

    Eurosong 2023 took place this evening  in Brussels at Palais 12 seven acts in the run for the ticket to Liverpool and this year's 67th Eurovision Song Contest. 

    The show was hosted by Peter Van De Veiere while the audience had a chance to watch, apart from the competing performances, Duncan Laurence the winner of Eurovision 2019 grace the stage. 

    The seven acts that competed in Belgium's Eurovision national final were: 

     

    1. Hunter Falls –  Ooh La La 

     

    2. Cherine –Ça m’ennuie pas 

     

    3. The Starlings – Rollercoaster

     

    4. Ameerah – The Carnival 

     

    5. Gustaph –Because Of You

     

    6. Gala Aliaj Dragot – T’lnquiete 

     

    7. Loredana De Amicis – You Lift Me Up 

     
     
    THE RESULTS
     

    50% of the result was influenced by the public while the rest 50% was determined by a 15-member jury, Four names familiar to the Eurovision audience featured the show along with 11 more music professionals. 

    Namely, the four jurors that featured the show commenting also on the live performances are: 

    • Alexander Rybak – Eurovision 2009 winner
    • Laura Tesoro – Belgium's Eurovision 2016 representative
    • Nikkie de Jager – Eurovision 2021 Host
    • Jérémie Makiese – Belgium's act at Eurovision 2022

    The rest 11 jurors who watch the show from backstage contributing with their votes to the jury results were:

    • Korneel De Clercq (Radio 1)
    • Thibault Christiaensen (StuBru)

    • Els Germonpré (Music coordinator Eén)
    • Manu Lammens (music manager MNM)
     
    A total of 1,560 points are available, 780 points from the public and 780 points from the expert jury.Here is how the outcome of the national final turned out after adding up all jury and public votes: 
     
    • 1st Place: Gustaph – “Because of You” (Jury vote: 121 - Public vote 15 >> Total: 278)
    • 2nd Place: The Starlings – “Rollercoaster” (Jury vote: 94 - Public vote 143 >> Total :277)
    • 3rd Place: Gala Dragot – “T’inquiète” (Jury vote:146 - Public vote: 125 >> Total:271)
    • 4th Place: Chérine – “Ca m’ennuie pas” (Jury Vote:145 - Public Vote:123 >> Total: 268)
    • 5th Place: Ameerah – “The Carnival” (Jury Vote:107 -  Public vote:64 >> Total: 171)
    • 6th Place: Loredana – “You Lift Me Up” (Jury Vote:83 - Public Vote: 84 >> Total: 167)
    • 7th Place: Hunter Falls – “Ooh La La” (Jury Vote: 84 - Public Vote:44 >> Total: 128)
