Belgium: Duncan Laurence to appear during the national final 'Eurosong 2023'

The Dutch winner of Eurovision 2019, Duncan Laurence, will be apppearing during Belgium's national final 'Eurosong 2023'.
The Belgian broadcastee. VRT has confirmed that Ducan Laurence will be taking part in the national final show 'Eurosong 2023' as a guest.
Duncan Laurence in Eurovision
In 2019 Duncan Laurence was internally selected by the Dutch broadcaster, AVROTROS, to represent The Netherlands at Eurovision 2019 in Tel Aviv,with the song ‘Arcade’. The Netherlands received a total of 498 points, with 261 points from the public and 237 points from the professional juries confirming the bookies that wanted Duncan winner from the day his song was released.

Following his ESC victory back in Tel Aviv, the Dutch act has met worldwide success with his winning entry 'Arcade'making history as it marked the first Eurovision entry this centrury to enter the US Billboard Hot 100 peaking at No78. Last time this happened was back in back in 1996 the United Kingdom's entry, ‘Ooh Aah… Just a Little Bit‘ performed by Gina G, charted at No.12. In addition the song surpassed an impressive 400million streams on Spotify.
Eurosong 2023
A total of 7 acts will take the stage in Belgium's national final for Eurovision 2023 with each one of them performing two songs. The competing acts and songtitles previosuly revealed are:
- Ameerah – “The Carnival” / “Armageddon”
- Chérine – “Ca m’ennuie pas” (It doesn’t bother me) / “Mon étoile” (My star)
- gala dragot – “emotion ollie” / “t‘inquiète” (don’t worry)
- Gustaph – “Because of You” / “The Nail”
- Hunter Falls – “Home” / “Ooh La La”
- Loredana – “I Dream in Colours” / “You Lift Me Up”
- The Starlings – “Oceanside” / “Rollercoaster”
While the full versions of the songs will go public on January 9, 2023 VRT has released snippets of the competing entries giving us a taste of the upcoming Eurosong 2023 national final.

The national final is set to take place in Paleis 12 / Palais 12 in Brussels on January 14, 2023. The outcome of the competition will be determined by a combination of jury voting and televoting. The tickets for the event will be released for sale soon.
Belgium in Eurovision
Belgium is one of the countries to have participated in the Eurovision SOng Contest since its first edition back in 1956. After 30 years the country achieves to win the contest in 1986 with the 13 yo Sandra Kim and her entry “J’aime la vie“.
The country has finished last in the contest 8 times while in two of these occasions didn’t receive any point at all. In 2003 with the group Urban Trad and their song “Sanomi” it almost reached its second victory finishing in the 2nd place, only two points behind Turkey and Sertab Erener with her entry “Every way that I can“.
Although the country has managed to qualify to the final 5 times the last decade, with Loïc Nottet in 2015 and Blanche in 2017 achieving the best results coming 4th in the final, over the next two years that wasn't the story as the country failed to qualify.
In 2020 Hooverphonic were internally selected to perform "Release Me" in Rotterdam. Following the cancellation of the contest by EBU due to the coronavirus pandemic, Hooverphonic represented the country in 2021 in Rotterdam with their song 'The Wrong Place" and after qualifying from the 1st semi final show they finished 19th in the final with an overall total of 74 points.
Last year, The Voice Belgium winner, Jeremie Makiese flew the flag in Turin, Italy singing 'Miss you' which came 19th in the final with a total of 64 points.
