Azerbaijan: TuralTuranX selected for Eurovision 2023

The twin brothers Tural and Turan Bagmanov, performing under the stage name TuralTuranX have been selected to represent Azerbaijan at Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool.
The artistic duo of Tural and Turan Bagmanov will be defending the Azeri colors in Liverpool singing 'Tell Me More'.
Azerbaijan's national broadcaster, ITV, ran the previous months a internall selection process in order to determine their Eurovision 2023 representative. Out of many proposals ITV shortlisted five acts that could fit the occasion. Namely the five acts that made it to the last stage of the internal selection were:
- Azer Nasibov
- Humay Aslanova & Amrah Musayev
- Leyla Izzatova
- Mamagama
- Turan & Tural Bağmanovlar
After audition and their studio recordings of their songs been reviewed by a special focus group, the two twin broathers Turan & Tural Bağmanovlar were selected to fly the flag in Liverpool. Their song “Tell Me More” has been penned and composed by themselves, marking the first time since 2008 where a fully Azeri production team i behind the creation of the entry.
Their song is set to tbe released over the next days.
A few words for Turan & Tural Bağmanovlar
Turan and Tural Bagmanov were born in the city of Zagatala – according to the brothers-musicians, they met the piano at school, which aroused their great interest, and after which they even began to skip lessons to learn songs. Seeing his sons' interest in music, his father bought them a synthesizer, and then the brothers learned to play the guitar.
The two brothers explain how they found out about their participation:
"We learned about the selection for Eurovision from the social network Instagram and, sending our song, we did not hope for anything, we have strong rivals, thank you all for your support,"
The twins have a joint account on the social network Instagram - @turanturalx - where musicians share everything related to their creative activities, presenting to the subscribers cover versions of famous tracks.
TuralTuranX will take part in Eurovision 2023 performing in the second half of the first semi-final on May 9.
Azerbaijan in Eurovision
The Land of fire debuted in the contest in 2008 and since then they have been present in every single edition of it, counting a totla of 13 participation. In 2011 The duo Eldar & Nikki gave the country its one and only victory with their entry Running scared, leading the Eurovision event next year in the capital city of Baku.
While Efendi's Eurovision 2020 journey was interrupted due to the coronavirus outbreak and never had the chance to perform 'Cleopatra' in Rotterdam, iTV decide to stick with the same act this year, giving her the chance to complete her mission in ESC 2021.Efendi flew to Rotterdam where she competed in the first semi final performing 'Mata Hari' and after qualifying to the Grand final she finished 20th with 65 points.
For 2022 Nadir Rustemli was internally selected to fly the flag in Turin where he performed the song 'Fade to black', which came 16th in the Grand final receiving a total of 106 points ( 103 from the jury vote and 3 from televoting).
