Armenia: Brunette selected for Eurovision 2023

• Armenia has selected Brunette to represent the country at the 67th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool.

  The Armenian national broadcaster, APMTV, announced that they have internally selected Brunette to fly the flag in Liverpool at Eurovision 2023. The 18 year old pop singer stated: ‘I am happy to share the news with you. I just create music, and this time I will share it with the European audience!’

   

   

  The Executive Director of nation's broadcaster Hovhannes Movsisyan stated the following:

  ‘Last year, sending a young artist to Eurovision was justified. The song is still successful and captivates millions of fans. I hope this year we will surprise the European audience with a unique Armenian artist.’

   

  A few words about Brunette

  Brunette is known to the public for several hit songs and is about to bring a new breath to the big European stage, "I am happy to share this news with you. I'm just creating music that I will share this time with the European audience," said the representative of Armenia at Eurovision 2023.
  
  Brunette started singing at four and has been composing since 15. She is the author of the music and lyrics of all his songs. Brunette's songs "Night," "Smoke Break," and "Open your blue eyes" became hits in a short time and recorded millions of views on YouTube.

   

   

  Armenia in Eurovision

  Armenia has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 13 times since making its debut in 2006, when André became the first participant representing Armenia and was the first singer from the Caucasus region to compete at Eurovision.

  Armenia has reached the top 10 on seven occasions, with the country's best result in the contest being two fourth-place finishes; achieved by Sirusho with the song "Qélé, Qélé" (2008), and Aram Mp3 with "Not Alone" (2014). 2011 was the first year that Armenia failed to advance from the semi-final round.

  This was followed by the country withdrawing from the 2012 contest due to security concerns in the host city, Baku. In 2018 and 2019, Armenia consecutively failed to qualify from the semi-finals for the second and third time respectively.

  In 2020 Athena Manoukian won the national final of Depi Evratesil 2020 with her song 'Chains on you' but saw her Eurovision journey interrupted by the contest's cancellation due to the covid-19 pandemic. Last year they withdrew from the competition due to the war in Artaskh. 

  In 2022 the Armenian national broadcaster, APMTV, internally selected Rosa Linn to fly the flag at Eurovision 2022 who will be performing the song  'Snap' in Turin.  The song qualified to the Grand final where it finished in 20th place. The song went viral afterwards topping the internatiomnal streaming platforms and becoming the second most streamed song in the contest's history.
