Poland: TVP confirms Eurovision 2022 participation

  • The Polish broadcaster, TVP, has confirmed that the country will take part in the 2022 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in Italy next May.

    The previous month the Director of TVP, Jacek Kurski, had shed some light on Poland's intentions regarding their participation in the next competition. Today the Polish broadcaster officially confirmed to ESCToday that the nation will be joining the list of competing countries in Italy next May. 

    TVP has opened the submission wndow for songs and has released the rules and terms for the ESC 2022 selection. Interested acts and composers to represent Poland in Eurovision 2022 must send in their proposals no later than November 20, 2021. All applications should be sent to the following email address: [email protected].

    However, TVP, has not cleared if they will opt for an internal selection or will hold a national selection to determine the Polish ESC 2022 act and entry. More information about the Polish selection for Eurovision 2022 will come to light over the following weeks.

     

     

    Poland in Eurovision 

    Poland debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 with Edyta Gorniak‘s To nie ja, achieving the best result for the country uo to date. The country which has participated 21 times in the contest and counts mixed results . It has managed a top 10 placing only three times. Due to poor results and financial issues and was absent from the competition for three consecutive years until their return in 2014.

    In 2018 Gromee feat Lukas Meijer represented the countey with their song Light me up but unfortunately were left out of the grand final. In 2019 Tulia with “Fire of Love (Pali się)“ represented the country but failed to reach the grand final as they finished 11th in the first semi final .

    In 2020 Alicja Szemplińska was set to represent the nation in Rotterdam with her song Empires, following her win in the national final “Szansa na sukces 2020″ . However the contest was cancelled due to the covid-19 outbreak and Alicja never had the chance to perform her entry on Rotterdam Ahoy's stage. 

    This year  Rafał Brzozowski was internally selected to represent Poland in Rotterdam with his song "The Ride". The Polish act despite his energetic performance on stage didn't make it to the Grand final show.
