Italy: Mahmood and Blanco win Sanremo Festival 2022 with their song 'Brividi'

  • Mahmood and Blanco were crowned winners of the 72nd edition of Sanremo Festival with their song "Brividi".

    After five nights of shows and a marathon of performances by 25 competing acts, Sanremo 2022 concluded this evening declaring big winners the duo Mahmood & Blanco and their song 'Brividi'.

    The fifth and last show of Sanremo Festival 2022 was presented by Amadeus accompanied by the actress Sabrina Ferilli. Additionally, the show featured  the team of Rhythmic Gymnastics  Farfalle and Marco Mengoni as guest stars. 

    The closing show of Sanremo 2022 consisted of two parts. The 25 acts appeared on the stage and performed their entries with the public televoting following. The results of today's televoting were added to the ranking results from the previous evenings. All rankings up to 4th place were revealed while the top 3 acts advanced to the second part of the show. 

    During the second part the top 3 acts performed once again their songs with the demoscopic voting (33%), the press jury (33%) and  public televote (34%) determining the last set of results that declared the final winner and next Italian Eurovision representative. 

    The 25 acts that performed this evening were:

    • Ditonellapiaga con Rettore – Chimica
    • Elisa – O forse sei tu
    • Emma – Ogni volta è così
    • Fabrizio Moro – Sei tu
    • Giovanni Truppi – Tuo padre, mia madre, Lucia
    • Highsnob e Hu – Abbi cura di te
    • Irama – Ovunque sarai
    • Iva Zanicchi – Voglio amarti
    • Le Vibrazioni – Tantissimo
    • Matteo Romano – Virale
    • Sangiovanni – Farfalle
    • Tananai – Sesso occasionale
    • Achille Lauro – Domenica
    • Ana Mena – Duecentomila ore
    • Dargen D’Amico – Dove si balla
    • Gianni Morandi – Apri tutte le porte
    • Giusy Ferreri – Miele
    • La Rappresentante di Lista – Ciao ciao
    • Mahmood & Blanco – Brividi
    • Massimo Ranieri – Lettera di là dal mare
    • Michele Bravi – Inverno dei fiori
    • Noemi – Ti amo non lo so dire
    • Rkomi – Insuperabile

    The Results 

    The televoting that followed the live performances saw in the top 3 places the following acts: 

    • Elisa
    • Gianni Morandi
    • Mahmood & Blanco 

    The three of them advanced to the second round of voting by the demoscopic voting (33%), the press jury (33%) and public televote (34%). Once all votes were counted, Mahmood and Blanco were declared winners, leaving second behind Elisa and in third place Gianni Morandi. 

    This is the second time Mahmood wins the festival, as in 2019 he had topped the scoreboard with his song 'Soldi' which represented the country at Eurovision 2019 in Tel Aviv and came 2nd. 

    Apart from the winning entry, four more awards were given away. Namely, Massimo Ranier won Mia Martini Award (by the jury), Fabrizio Moro won the Sergio Bardotti award for Best Lyrics, Gianni Morandi won the Lucio Dalla Award by the press jury, while last but not least the Giancarlo Bigazzi Award for Best Composition was given to Elisa.
